Default I was banned from Ultimate-Guitar

I got banned from Ultimate-Guitar.com today (after a 3 week membership) for expressing my staunch opinion, so I thought I'd share with you guys. Below is the post that got me banned. I thought it was funny.
On the subject of 'good' acoustic Emo songs, I couldn't help but say what I thought of the "Emo epidemic".

And how many supposed "emo" kids would even know when that term originated and which bands it was applied to?
And it had nothing to do with:
a) Cutting yourself.
b) Talking about suicide like it makes you tough.
c) Losing all sense of depth perception with a stupid haircut.
d) Wearing a standard black uniform with eye liner.
e) Being a sad sack.

our team of investigators are speculating that people are telling emos to kill themselves, and they are actually listning"

Dude, that gave me the 2nd best laugh I've had all day, after my stupid banning that is. :p

Edit: If you're interested in good rock/punk music, and where the term "emo" began, check out Fugazi (particularly the Red Medicine album) and Rites Of Spring (a band a Fugazi member was in before Fugazi, in the 80's), classic punk/pop/rock/emocore.

I f**king love Motorhead, and I f**king hate Emo's. Emo was a term that was coined back in the 80's, and my post that got me banned sums up my thoughts on that. Have you seen the Motorhead video, Best Of Motorhead or something like that? There's some great footage of Motorhead with Robbo (Brian Robertson of Thin Lizzy fame) playing with them, that guy was such an awesome, original guitarist. Being a metal fan Spad, do you like Opeth by any chance? I don't get in to alot of real heavy stuff, but I f**king love Opeth, one of the greatest metal/heavy rock bands ever! Metallica rock, up until the Black album atleast.

My other half is a big Opeth fan. We went to see them last year in Manchester. My girlfriend has some foto's we took at the gig. If you PM your email I'll get them off her and send them to you. There not to good but if you want them you can. I'm not a huge fan but they were very good! As for Brian Robertson I love him. I grew up listening to lizzy and I also had the fortune to see Phil Lynott with Gary Moore in the 80's!!! A band I was in also suported Brian Downey's Swamp Thing in 93 or 94 to! That was cool, I was sat twith Mr Downey for an hour just chatting to him!

Yeah I agree Motorhead are a bit shite now but when I saw them I was a 9 year old boy and they blew my f*****g head off The last time I saw Motorhead, The Almighty were suppoorting them and they blew Motorhead well and truely off stage! I also saw Megadeth get annihilated by Pantera! The funny thing about Pantera is that before Phil Anselmo joined them they were a LA big hair cock rock band.......and I am not bullshitting you! Dimebag was actually called Diamond Darrel :roflmao: It was shame what happened to him, he was a cracking musician!

Also yer right about Metallica. The Black Album was their last good album but for me my fave is Justice!

For me the best Motorhead era was when it was just Lemmy, Philthy and Fast Eddie. I went off them after that. They just seemed to lose the speed and aggression that made them Motorhead but I think Lemmy is a f*****g GOD!!

Also see if you can get a copy of their Twelve Days of Christmas. You'll piss your nickers laughin!!!

I pissed off all the "Goths" back when I Was in High School.......For some Assinine Reason it started becoming the Big thing....and one day during Lunch one of them was raggin on me because I wasn't Goth.......So
I Explained to him and all his Little Preppy Friends that they weren't Goth either.....They Argued with me over it up until I pulled my Ace Card..and Told them that if they were REALLY Goth they wouldn't be here....They'd be Dead Like Goths are supposed to be.....That pretty well Pissed them off......I was pretty Damn proud of myself.....and I've given the Same Speech to Some Emo Kids I've seen around.......Got into Trouble because I told that to some "Emo" Kids at the High School my Wife Teaches at......I got a talking to from their Principal about it.....was kinda funny....

Lol. It's pretty funny that these kids think they're being original by copying everyone else, and wearing a standard uniform and copping the same stupid poses.

YOOOOOOOOOOOO other than being younger and not seen as many bands I'm right with ya HELL YES!!!

I HATE Emo...there I said it. I can't stand these bands now I'm glad I'm outta school doy, when I was in school Nu-Metal was all the rage...that and Eminem...

I'm not OK I promise? OK fine, so your not ok...Guess what...nor am I BEAT IT KID you get everything paid for! What have you got to not be ok about? LOL

:roflmao:

Also, I see a thing about Goth? Yep! that was there too. And Chav's were called "Townies" then...
I'm only 20 but I'm a musician and I know history too and it's funny how things come around like the big emo fringe. That's not original.
and these uniforms..."Prince Charming, Prince Charming, Ridicule is nothing....." AHEM sorry but...anyone else see a similarity?

So anyways. To the dudes above mensioning Metal bands being "the shit" such as Motorhead and metallica (Old Metallica that is) I salute you. I love Fear Factory and Meshuggah @ the top of my Metal list. They may be new but they are ace. I loooooooove detuned guitars and rhythms give me more enjoyment outta music than 1000 notes and so I jus love how these two bands lock into the grove. Even Meshuggah with thier time sigs which are, BTW, most of the time actually in 4/4 jus cleverly done so not actually that strange really...

Glad you appreciated it. Thanks for the links, they look like cool sites, I'll have to spend some time trawling their pages. I joined UG after I looked up some song tabs, and thought it might be alright to have other people to chat music and guitars with, but it's full of daft kids talking crap. Membership isn't needed to use the tabs and lessons though, so I might use it now and then.

Usually is (Kids).

In any case yes I mean KoRn but that's ok. Limp Biskit too, I like em.
What I mean is kids jus went crazy for what I now call "Factions" and you still have to be in a "Faction" now.

Seems kids all want to be sheep and if you arn't in Faction A or B you ain't cool, or tough, or "killa" or in any "Bloodclot" or nothin'...apparently.

Me? I'm jus me really.
Gots long hair, burly muscles, wear jeans and t-shirts/vests with Boots or trainers. Sometimes trakkies too but this makes me none of em right? Good cause I dont care!

Only difference in my and old rockabilly style is that I'm bald. Because clothes seems cool and music is cool but rockers are too hairy I tried play acustic guitar but nearly killed my girlfriend so I stop that

I couldn't follow Lowndes's successful HRT seasons, but I got a channel that I can watch V8s, that was I think back in 2002
So yeah, I'm a Lowndes Ford fan.

Plus I don't like Holden, too many Holden badged Opels

Although Lowndes isn't my biggest idol, that must be "Flying Swede" Mattias Ekstrom in DTM

i think lowends is a good driver, and i would like to see him win another championship just not in a ford :p

4 tries in a holden = 3 championships from first 3 tries
6 tries in a ford = ZERO championships :roflmao:

IF you want a laugh guys you should go on youtube and watch the bullshit rambling video's. They're as funny a fook!

As for Nu-Metal etc i love all rock/metal. Fair enough there is some utter shite out there but I love it all! You guys have to remember music is a personal thing (that's why I hate music critics), what one person hates another loves. I am an ex session musician and I have played all kinds of music. Even tho my passion and my heart are in metal/rock it has made me more of rounded and complete player.

Don't forget you can draw influences from all avenues.

My influences/tastes are all pretty much in the realm of 'rock' music, but in that realm there are so many diverse bands/musicians. I'm into alot of 70's stuff, I'm a HUGE Thin Lizzy fan, Led Zep, Deep Purple (Mach III), Black Sabbath (Ozzy and Dio years), UFO (Schenker era), and I love Guns n Roses (message to Axl, your band broke up 12-13 years ago dude, move on). Other stuff regularly in my play list is Jeff Buckley, Built To Spill, AC/DC, Fugazi.... actually, here's some screens of my music collection on my pooter.

Edit: Oh shit, ignore that Emocore At His Best album, I thought I'd deleted that poser crap. Doh!

Whilst on Emo/Goth/ whatever faction the kids are into these days anyone remember "Grunge"? Cause that was there too. In fact I was called a "Grunger" many a time...'Til I showed 'em "Townies" as it were what REAL
Hip-Hop is! NWA, Cypress Hill and Public Enemy soon shut them "Gangsta" wannabies up...

The worst is 'jumpstyle' :')

Currently a hype in the Netherlands, and the most sad thing since.. Hitler..

Evil EMO!!!! Why does it sound like they've been castrated by a chainsaw when they sing? That music is pure torture.

Personally, I like a lot of the metal out of the New Orleans area. I believe it's considered "sludge" . ... Pantera being the most famous of the crowd, and then Acid Bath, Crowbar, Soilent Green, Goatwhore, Agents of Oblivion. And then aside from that I like Slayer

Seasons In The Abyss is one of the best songs ever written.

Wow, there's even a Jumpstyle tutorial. That is the gayest shit I've ever seen.
