Did a little setup in a couple of hours on Tuesday, tested my strategy in a couple of hours on Saturday. Very little real prep appart from that, I liked the car and knew the track. And my test lead me to believe that the one stop although risky was easily the fastest way with this car.
Had the ipod on before qual, listened to a few decent rock tunes to get me in the mood. Did a PB of 1:35.358 which was good for 8th.
Race Stint 1:
Rolling start, mmmh wtf. Oh yea I turned that on when everybody was complaining about the lights at Virginia, and must of forgot to turn it off. But we are all professionals a rolling start is no trouble right
Great start, loads of folk were asleep so i past them ahead of me was the viper of R34GTR i caught up on him so quick i had to swerve to avoid him, almost spun it. Rejoined T1 in 8th. I was far too cautious for the first 2 laps. Lost out to Sidewinder16 in the craners, and UdioNt at the esses. Down too 9th at the end of lap 1.
Ezza fell of the road at the start of the next lap. The next few laps I pressured UdioNT and Kristofer pressured me. Until we all got 3 wide into coppice. UdioNT was on the racing line, I was just behind and ready to go inside him, Kristofer just behind me ready to take the inside. (as you will see in the video when its done, or at time 462 in the server replay)
I did a better job on the brakes than UdioNT, but he turned in sooner than i expected, we exchange door paint around coppice and Kristofer passed both of us on the inside. I've looked at it loads of times and can't really work out if that was my fault or not, but it meant now Kris was ahead and UdioNT was behind, but I was still 7th, oh then Ezza appeared and dis-appeared 8th  McDanger in another bloody viper got me a few laps later, down to 9th. This strategy was starting to look bad.
20 mins in and vipers started pitting, suddenly I was in with a shot agian. I was sure they would try 1 stop at all costs. Kris was ahead of me in a Porsche but luckily he was on a 2 stop, so he was handing me 45 seconds when he pulled in ahead of me. I was 3rd
Then much to my suprise fane pitted well before half distance, I knew he was no longer a challenge to me. The next 4 laps would be really important. Low fuel and destroyed tires, I would loose at least 4 seconds a lap, but loosing 16 - 20 seconds is still better than stopping 2 time. All I had to do was not spin it. Pulled in after the 3rd tire warning, just after half way
Race Stint 2:
In the pits, got my key assignments muddled up lost a few seconds. Then got rammed no less than 6 times by UdioNt while my crew did the work, not cool dude, you don't damage someone while they are stoped in the pits, just wait your turn, or go out and do another lap. I was only stopped for 51 seconds.
Came out in 10th with Ezza ahead and in sight, I knew I had to push him as he would be in the lead when the 2 stoppers came in. 1st lap on new tires was awful, the front softs had grip the rear hards didn't, so the car was very pointy. For all I knew I had rear damage from UdioNT ramming me in the pits. Tried to push anyway.
Came up to lap GearChange and Bentfocus, Gearchange lost the back on the outside of McLeans, and went across the track hitting the front of my car and spining me. I lost about 15 seconds meaning it would be near impossible to get Ezza unless he had a crash, I still had to push anyway to see could I put any pressure on him from so far back.
Later as I came up to lap jhoeckman, he ran wide and quickly rejoined. As I went to pull out to the right to pass him he did the same, as I was going much faster I hit the back of his car and spun him around.
Jayblue flew by a lap later, I was not aware of his strategy but I figured if I could stay within 30 seconds of him I would beat him as i was sure he had to stop again. Traffic did not help me much, offically I was 4th but sure Fane and Jayblue would be stopping again. I saw fane pull in 2 laps from the end. You think he would have learned his lesson after magny. 2 more laps on bad tires would have cost him 8 to 10 seconds, but instead he did a pitstop that cost him 50+
I was happy to be in 3rd with no pressure near the end of the race when my tire would surely be about to go again. I was a little annoyed that Jay finished ahead as I was sure he would have stopped again. Also if the incident with Gearchange did'nt happen I think me Ezza and Jayblue would be much closer at the end, maybe the result would have been the same but who knows.
Good fun here, but I get to drive my fav car next week, it will be yellow also
