Yeah I tried to stay away but they had a special running & another member was telling about it so I gave it a go. It's pretty cool but would be expensive by the end. I'm gonna run my 3 months & cancel my subscription.

Its not! .. i'v had it for 2 months, and it simply runs out of fun for me INCREDIBLY quickly, although it is worth a go. as i can see why some people love it.
So I wouldn't recommend it, but it is worth a go to see. ![]() (My name on it is Alex White, .. even though you cant do anything as friends..and i dont bother with it) |

Pro Series is quite tense. In the regular Daytona Prototype races you can get away with a spin. The gaps are large enough. But in the Pros, everyones running so close that if you have a spin you'll lose 10 places.
I'm currently sitting 30th in the road standings. Going to run the VIR race tonight. |

I joined at the start of iRacing. Bad pings and a poor PC drove me away.
With the new Aussie servers, and a new PC I am now back with a 1 year subscription. Trying to work through the lower ranks - currently a D class driver. Enjoy road racing and Time Trials but will have a go at oval racing soon. Online name - JD d'Asques (Stay clear as I am dangerous!) John |

Road: Class D Oval: Rookie Road: I race Rookie Solstice and Spec Racer Ford. Oval: I race Rookie Legends. I LOVE iRacing. Best, most comprehensive sim I've ever driven. The only sims that have provided me even close to the same "seat of the pants" feel with great FFB and physics are Grand Prix Legends, NASCAR Racing 2003 Season and Richard Burns Rally. No coincidence that two of those sims -- GPL and NR 2003 -- were developed by many of the same team that works on iRacing. You get what you pay for in iRacing. There's simply no comparison to GTR 2, any of the RACE games or rFactor. Live For Speed is a bit closer, but not that close. Take care, PK |

I'm practicing to run the Jetta, I'm a D class in Road and Rookie on the Ovals but have the MPR for my D license, been on for three weeks so I'd say I'm doing alright for my self.

It will probably be an a class car, so to race it, if you signed up today, the earliest would Season 1 2010, assuming you get the promotions nessacary to have a b class liscense with a safety rating above 4.0 by then, of course you can run it by yourself in test sessions when ever you want. Mazdas I believe you could be running as early as two weeks from now if you signed up now.

You don't have to buy all the content to run a series. You just need the content that specific week. What series are you trying to run right now?

24HDU is not a normal series. It is run 1 day a week and is only 1 car and 1 track. This week the car is the Jetta, and the track is Road America. Normally the 24HDF begins on midnight GMT on Thursday night (Friday morning) and runs till midnight GMT on Friday night (Saturday morning). But it has started early this week to allow people to run the Jetta.
In a normal series, for example, the Skip Barber, you only need to own the track of that specific week. If it is at Sebring, you only need Sebring, nothing else. |

ive just tried i racing for the 1st time with the 1 month free thing.
gotta say quite good, the ffb is really good with the g25, the driving feels very real. ive only done a few laps at silverstone so far. not gonna join up though, i dont have the time to make it worth my while for the money. im quite happy with p&G and gtl for the fun factor. but i like what iracing is doing, im impressed. |

I got the 3 months + Daytona deal when it was up. I don't race a lot though as I cant seem to run fast and get discouraged. Was on last night, 1st time in a few weeks. Im still Rookie. |

You need to be a b license, which takes like 3 seasons. Or a c license maintaining a 4.0 safety rating. further more, a purchase of tracks would be required at 15 - 25 $ us each track. So unless you plan to run the lola on laguna seca over and over alone you have time and more money to invest. Because even if you own it you can't practice with other people at all until you have the correct license level. I have B license in both oval and road. |

this sessions schedule for lola
road america $25.00 sebring $25.00 limerock (cant remember this may have come with sub) infineon $25.00 mazda ls (comes with sub) milwaukee mile $20.00 silverstone $25.00 vir $20.00 summit point comes with sub sebring $25.00 $140.00 SO far my total investment is around $400.00 us. and i still dont have about 16 of tracks and I have maybe 1/4 of the mods. from jack b below relivant info- ''The standard offer is $60 credit with a $159 annual sub, so some of the tracks you listed would come with the $60 credit. Additionally, you get 10%, 20% etc discounts when you buy multiple items, so that $60 is actually even more than that.'' Is it worth it? After about a year now i would say it really depends on your own income and your own veiw on the sim. I find that I wish I had waited a few years, it will be become cheaper and it will become much better. I personally feel as though i am paying for a high graphics beta. I recently reinstalled gtr2 so I can do what i want when I want. Its about fun factor. To me. When I't comes time to renew in the winter I will most likely either think long and hard or bail out for a year unless the price comes down. I just can't justify the fun vs cost factor at this point. If your someone thinking of becoming a pro racer in real life, or already one and want to practice certain tracks on your schedule then by all means its worth it, if your track is on there it will help you practice, especially road tracks. just my 2 cents. I'm doing the Radical trial right now, and I must say, this thing is absolutely EPIC. I fully see myself becoming a regular subscriber- though not necessarily owning to terribly much of the addon content.
Here's how I look at it. $20 a month MAX for a sub. $40 for a new car AND a new track. Grand total of $60, which is what alot of new games go for in stores (Though, a new PC game seems to still be at $50). I usually pick up a new game every month or so, so rather than doing that I'll likely stick with this, as it's a whole heck of a lot more fun than alot of the new games are these days. Points racing is a waste IMO, as most won't be able to compete with the aliens/real guys. Honestly, I wouldn't buy every track in a series- only the ones I actually like. Sure you may have to race something else for a week or so, but there is enough to keep you entertained (As been said millions of times, the Legends are amazing )Well, that could be why you feel as if your playing a beta. There is no Lola. Unless Lola builds the Mazda's... But I dont think they do, or do they? I'm still not sure which road I want to go down- Road or Oval. I just wish they would've included a halfmile (Say Stafford) in the basic subscription pack- as tracks of that style are all over in the Modified and Late Model series'. Registered as Matt Orr, currently a Rookie in both series, though I do plan on having that changed ASAP. I plan on meeting up with some of you guys sometime and getting smoked by you all. I still think the best way to do it is the free Radical trial, as you get both a car and track for free, AND a free month. Last edited by Empty Box; 20 August 09 at 02:54. I would have never in a million years bought a boxed sim called "The Skip Barber Simulator", but man is that car fun to drive and race. There are a lot of cars to try in iRacing. You might be surprised what you find out you enjoy.

Wow!!!! IMO I really think that these "Games" we play and enjoy are way more than that!!!! In real life I am a professional driver and I get paid for it!!! I get up to $80,000.00
plus a year and I know it's deadly serious but it's a choice I made for myself when I was like 5 yrs. old and I actually have been doing it for 24 yrs. and I love what it that's why I have stuck with it. My avitar says it all........I do drive circles around alot of people and they laugh at me when I tell them what I do for a living untill they race me!!!! Then they have a little more respect for what I do!! As for these simulators they truly can help learn tracks in real life esp. when it's someones first time at the track in a different country where they would normaly not get a chance to go it's awesome. The fun factor vs. $ for addons it's a hole in the pocket thing if you like it or absolutely love it....it all comes down to commitment. |

Maybe he is so impressed with the way iRacing feels that he is comparing it to his real life job.
"As for these simulators they truly can help learn tracks in real life esp" He is also saying that if something is really worth doing you should be willing to pay the price, like he has done in investing his money into Racing "The fun factor vs. $ for addons it's a hole in the pocket thing if you like it or absolutely love it....it all comes down to commitment." Just thought I'd help with understanding his post
