Default fix for mod menu logos

just a little discovery i made with addon mods with the menu and car logos that are included but sometimes never seen.

simple fix:
try moving the logos included with the mod download files from the uidata/menu/texture_mamba folder (if thats where they are) to the uidata/menu/textures folder.

now i'm not sure this will fix everybody's problems and truth is i haven't any clue why this works as i am in no way, shape, or form as talented as the modders that bring us these great mods, track and addon's in the sim-racing world we all enjoy heck i wouldn't even claim to be a great car skinner,
but i'm guessing that maybe it's the difference from a steam install and a offline install. btw i have the offline race/evo/stcc combo install.

i hope this helps someone, i have all my logos appearing ingame now and it's not bugging the crap out of me anymore

and if this is not the first thread on this topic then please forgive me for starting another one

uidata\menu\textures_Frog = STCC
uidata\menu\textures_Mamba = Evo
uidata\menu\textures = race07

From patch 1.2.01 all menu icons go into uidata\menu\textures, there is no need to put them into textures_frog/textures_mamba anymore from the looks of it. And even if you do they don't get picked up by the game afaik.

This applies to both the non-steam offline version and the steam version.

All my mods use textures_mamba. Just testing in steam all seem to work.

Well in the the non-steam version I had to move the Porsche 935 mod icons to menu\textures, they were in textures_mamba prior to patch 1.2.0.1 but weren't getting picked up by the game after patch 1.2.0.1.

Perhaps that was just a minor bug in the 1.2.01 patch for the non steam version then.

ok, it's starting to make a little more since, (heavy on the little)
how bout this theory, seeing how stcc was the latest of my installs wouldn't that maybe explain why the logos would appear after being placed into the "_frog" folder...i wonder

i can for see this problem again when "race on" is finally released. I'll experiment a little more.

thanks for the help guys, i know it's really just a minor thing, but when trying to figure it out on my own can get frustrating. just having some more input really help's paint a better picture

Well there is one way to make sure.

Put them in all three folders.

The textures folder depends on the menu skin being used. Evo-specific textures are loaded from /Textures_Mamba/, and override generic/Race07 textures from /Textures/, on Steam at least.

Look up the menu skin thread I wrote up back when 1.2.0.1 came out, pretty sure it mentions this, and how the folder is set.

Yeah it doesn't appear to work that way in the non-steam version.

All textures for the menu buttons have to go in the generic textures folder, not the mamba or frog folders, otherwise they don't appear, you just get a blank button.

It's probably to do with the way the expansions are mounted in Steam, being different to the way the non-steam version does it.

would it work if we copied all the files from /textures to /textures_mamba
and all the files from /texturex_mamba to /textures
