Some say Top Gear are entering a car next year, driven by a man in a white suit and helmet...

...All we know is...

...The BTCC won't ever be as good as the 1990s.

I'm just hoping that ITV keep the coverage on Freeview or it goes to the BBC because there have been rumours of it going to pay TV, i.e. Sky.

Bamboo will be a two-car team, that was confirmed a few months ago.
Let's see if they can do a bit more in their first whole season, I hope so because with VXR gone there are three good cars missing!

still think bamboo should have done better last season, started off well, but after RML got them chevy's flying, vaulkhard could have done better, who they having for other driver, Neal-Sheddon, or someone with money, herbert-pinkney or someone else

I think Vaulkhard will stay, the other driver isn't confirmed I think!
But there are so many good drivers looking for a cockpit for nxt year, so they should easily get a driver especially because those other RML-chevys are so good at the moment, by the way will Silverline stay?

Just read about a new team, Forster Motorsport (i don't know if I may add my source!?), they have two BMWs. They've already tested the cars at Brands in november, one of the cars is Jackson's old BMW but i don't know where the 2nd car is from.

Interesting that there letting a special "few" use the new readily availavle engine for the new generation, there supposed to be more powerfull won't that give them a bit of an unfair advantage?

Would be nice to get another new team enter, be nice to see Forster Motorsport do well in thier first year. They did smash a car in the tire wall on their first test at brands so things can only get better.

I wouldn't read too much into Motobase team (airwaves) testing new drivers either, they seem to have tested alot of new drivers aswell as Collard and Adam having had reasonably good year for the team. Might just end up as they were last year??????Mabee......

It's a bit of a shame Giovanardi is only contemplating factory drives, he should man up and get a pay drive at a smaller team to keep himself in touring cars i think before he ends up with a summer off.

http://www.touringcartimes.com/news.php?id=3569

specifications for new engine,

more info on touring car times

http://www.touringcartimes.com/news.php?id=4132

lea wood has entered the BTCC for 2010, in a private Honda Integra (Old Halfords Model)

also alan gow is trying slowly to kill RWD before the rules all change and its just FWD, RWD cars will be "Forced" to use a longer 1st gear to stop them getting a better start, which i think is awesfull but hey wont be RWD for long anyways

new forster team will be running two drivers and cars obviusly Martin Depper and Arthur Forster both past Mini Cooper champions.

i appogise for just ripping most of that from touringcartimes, but hopefully some people may not have known about it.

I really hope Gio stays he is a great racer!!!
I don't think he can get a drive at any worksteam in TOCAs except from Lada but he doesnt wanna drive there, I can understand him . I think his only chance is going to a independent team, let's see what he'll do.

The test of Team Forster at Brands was not really the best one, both the drivers crashed it once in two days, so not really what I would call the best first test, but at least the mechanics could study the car!

I've heard that Giovanardi could partner someone who is probably THE best driver BTCC has got in it. In a car that runs an engine with 5 cylinders and won the STCC this year.

Jason Plato is working hard to get Volvo back into BTCC and i think if they do then Giovanardi should go there and that would be the most unstoppable team in BTCC for quite a while.

If not i would love to see JP back at Chevy because i think next year is gonna be his year. Finally.

Also a side note on Dave Pinkney someone told me that he was going to be driving for Team AON next year which will be a waste of a good seat in my opinion, that bloke has more money than sense.

Yes but ITV are talking about putting ITV4 on tv subscription services and taking it off freeview. Men and Motors is only available via Sky/Virgin/BT, ITV want their digital channels, which includes ITV4, to go the same way, or so the articles I've been reading say.

So if that happens that means no more BTCC on freeview. And I'm loathe to pay my TV tax and then another TV tax on top of it, even if I could afford to, just for the BTCC/F1 and the few other programs I watch.

Besides I wish the BBC and Alan Gow would do a similar deal to what Bernie Ecclestone has done with the BBC, the BBCs coverage of F1 especially their iPlayer re-runs, which due to working shifts and thus missing live races I rely on, have been top notch for most of the season this year.

You can't say that about the ITV player.

I haven't thought of this, I'm German so I don't get as many informations from Britain. BBC and ITV want to have sth similar to pay tv with their freeview-thing in 2012. Till then BBC will stay FTA (free-to-air) but you're right I read that ITV has problems to get enough money.
Let's hope it stays how it is now especially because I couldn't watch the BTCC anymore, just the DTM (boring) and the WTCC (massive crashes at the start and then also a bit boring)

And one more VXR Vectra sold:
Dave Pinkney will drive a Vectra next year, another one with that new engine, he'll drive for his own team.

Toca is the governing body that run the BTCC. Just that the title has been lost in the championship name for sponsors.

And I think, that is why they let a few teams race with the new engine. A test in a race is allways the best way of testing an engine.

The engine manufacturer has plenty of experience with racing engines and is being built with the view of lasting for a full season so should be bullet proof.

It should also give more power than existing engines with the turbo as well as being cheaper, so i'm not quite sure why it's stupid?

Making BTCC faster, cheaper and giving all teams a chance to have easy access to a cheap competitive engine is a very good idea i thought.

I hoped Paul would get a better car, for example the third Vectra because I think he could be fighting for the championship.

By the way, Techspeed is thinking of starting with three Integras.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Already 12 cars on the grid (8cars+driver and 4 cars without driver), but we're still waiting for RML/Racing Silverline, Team RAC and motorbase.
Also Team Dynamics hasn't confirmed anything yet, I think.

That means he will most likly not return to the BTCC. 2010 is the last year for the BTC spec cars like the Integra, Civic , Astra Coupe, MG.
