Default Use the multiplayer install offline?

I just read that the multiplayer install can be used offline.

Since my multiplayer install connects to STEAM before doing anything else, and STEAM controls what game I launch out of their list, I'm interested in knowing how to get around connecting online to use RACE07 offline.

If your cable was out, how would you launch RACE07?

If it was working, how would you get directly to RACE07 to run a test session or in practice mode?

If you are not connected to the net, when Steam starts up it asks if you want to run in off-line mode. Select that then run RACE 07

My install does not ask if I wish to run in offline mode.

If I am not connected when I open the multiplayer install, it connects without offering any options.

I have two installs. It may be that the multiplayer install sets up different options depending on whether or not it sees an offline install present or not. Whatever the case, when I launch the multiplayer version from the icon on the desktop, it gives the option to launch RACE07 or CANCEL, no others. And doesn't offer an offline mode at any time.

It also leaves the two IP Connections active for STEAM after I exit RACE07.

So it appears it works different ways for different people.

Thanks for that info. So it looks like there is a way to run the multiplayer install offline.

It's interesting that I have "the game's status is "100% - Ready" and don't get the message "This game cannot be started in Offline Mode" when attempting to play offline, because nothing is available to click to choose to play offline. But it looks like if I open up the firewall to steam and it's advertisements and news then it'll allow me to run it offline whenever I wish.

(they need to rewrite steps 4, 5, and 6 to reflect what actually happens, btw)

Truth is, I like having the offline install to run RACE07 whenever I choose just by clicking on the desktop icon. Nothing could be easier.
