Thanks Pumpkin...I was so affraid I would get my butt chewed. I just beleive in support and encouragement. Not tell someone that somethings is wrong right off the bat. And; that happens to often at this site.
Gear up and full speed ahead with these Porsches dude. They look fabulous! |

I believe in support and encouragement too and correcting innaccuracies is one of many forms of support. Stating a fact is not being a troll. This is a simulation and is supposed to depict reality as close as possible. If this guy wants to make an innaccurate mod that is his choice but it will be unrealistic. Apparently realism and accuracy are low priorities for you two. Oh well. They are the highest priorities for my teams.

Cool
But indeed the 98 Porsche 911 GT1 was right side drive ALWAYS Even in Need For Speed Porsche the car was hand side drive More photos here http://www.supercars.net/cars/1551.html Driver is clearly on the right side And here is the cockpit shot

The car looks gorgeous. It would be a pity to spoil it with a cockpit error.
There is a slight flaw in the visual: the inside of the side vents before the front wheels looks striated (probably flat faces in uvmap). Perhaps I'm nitpicking, but the rest including the paintjob looks perfect and it could be easily fixed. |

Great stuff, looking forward to drive this car in GTR2.
Maybe it's just me, but it might be important HOW you tell someone about an error/mistake/bug. I always hear that modders ask for respect, but respect does also mean to respect the work of other modders and not to mention in the very first comment what is wrong with the car. And btw, it's great that you (Arnold and Vince) have such high standards, but maybe not all of us do follow or need these high standards. I will definatly download this car when it's done, no matter if the steering wheel is on the right side or not, simply because the car is amazing and the guys have done a superb job in creating it. If they will correct the mistake, it will be even better, if not, no problem at all. - atleast for me.

It would be strange if someone who is capable of making such a model would make a fundamental mistake like putting the steering wheel in the wrong place. Luckily a quick search on GTr4U showed me the following: http://s5.directupload.net/file/d/1965/72pgx5ix_jpg.htm
I find it interesting that if a modder does something 'wrong' in the physics, even if it's minor, the downloader will do nothing but whine and moan. But if the modder makes a big mistake in the model everything seems to be fine. Talk about double standards... |

Lol.
I had a thought reading all these posts. Just imagine the consequence in being the only people with the left hand drive 911-GT1. Hypotethically, we're going to have an even more precious car - since the historical racing-going version was never released with the left hand drive version. We'll probably leave that 'standard' RHD version to those Rfactor folks...

I didn't find any trolling/disrespect in this thread.
I agree with vince, its just a constructive observation. The car's looking pretty damn good, so because of that is not bad to remember that its a RHD, not LHD. I can't see any reason to the modder be offended. And i'm sure he's not, I don't know why this discussion even started. |

its all on the modder's judgement, he will decide whats the decision to make on this "issue". anyway, keep the good work aleskskk. Altough im' not a big fan of the 1998 ones, I like the GT1 993 better. Last edited by Markv84; 1 February 10 at 17:58. |

While thats true, the cars themselves are legends, and besides you "really" cant blame the car or the teams that fielded them as destroying the the class they made the cars using full advantage of the rules of the time to make what all teams wanted, cars that could win races. If anything its the fault of everyone eles for not keeping up. Tho i can see what your saying

If you put countless hours of work into something and the first comment from someone is about a mistake you've made then this is unrespectful to me, of course everyone has a different opinion about this and that's ok, it's just my point of view. Constructive criticism (to me) sounds like that: "You've done a great job on the model itself, but maybe you haven't noticed that the Porsche has the steering wheel on the wrong side. If you already know that (as the car is WIP) just forget my comment" - or something like this. And especially a modder itself should know how much work is needed to get this far and how great it is to get some positive reaction in the first place. BTW, I've followed the work on that Porsche for some time now and the guy who worked on that model had almost given up, but he didn't and so he has my respect for that. |

It's sad that to even point out the fact that the steering wheel is on the wrong side one can get flamed. Pointing that out nicely, as Arnold did, is constructive criticism. Saying, "Yea, it's spot on, bloody good job, but, umm, you missed a spot" is constructive also.
It's probably just a placeholder to get it ingame anyways. |

Calm down racing drivers!
I am aware that the Porsche 911 GT1 was unfortunately not real driven as LHD. Please see it as additional version to the RHD, it is only a special version of the modder and the technician. If you like it then drives it - basta! For the real underground bloody freaks there is a model as RHD available and it will be released asap. It would be a pleasure of me if you take the car and ride it to the winner. Thanks Aleksss for the absolute great job!

Well... let's remember cars didn't destroy championship - rules did.
(um, most of the time, the LACK of it does, always happened in the modern F1 times). So all our 'clues' should be addressed against the mere regulation staff, you know. Racing is business, not only our beloved passion. If one's willing to enhance his car at the limit, in order to be more competitive, and the rules allows some filthy moves... Who would ever close the door to the chance of having a wealthy sponsor on a spoiler? Moreover - race drivers can't afford to pay their bills with miracles and conversions. I Never saw in my life a driver named Jesus Christ. ![]() p.s.: this 911 GT1 kick-4$$!
