Default New to Race 07

Hi all. I am a strong user of GTR2, but I received Race 07 as a Christmas present, and was wondering if there is a large difference in the two. I did notice that there appear to be no addon mods for this, and I believe that I read once that it was designed so that mods cannot be incoporated into it.
Is it worth installing on my PC?

You got it as a gift and you're not sure if you want to install it? Wow...
There are mods for RACEO7 ... for example an F1 05 conversion from rFactor http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=7209

I won't say there is a large difference with GTR2 but RACE07 really deserves a try... The force feedback is very good and the AI can be much smarter than GTR's
That's a pretty good game even though it will probably never be as succesfull and modded as GTR2.

And don't forget that the 'historic rally' mod is on it's way too

Race07 does IMO look a bit better than GTR2 , but like rasfigjohn already mentioned the AI seem improved as well as good physics, FFB ...
Not to mention there's some great track converters out there, bringing us new goodies quite often.
It'd be a shame to not at least give it a go!!

Forgot to mention:

It might be an idea if you do install race07 that you just go for the offline version, as there's no need to be installing steam I s'pose if :

1). you don't like race07
2). you don't race online anyway!

Of course, if you do like race - then you will need steam to play online!

1./ Race wtcc(the previous 06 game) was designed to not have anything, addon installed. - Race07 is different, check the manual under "Custom/addon tracks"
2./ Any SimBin/10tacle/Blimey game is worth installing and driving many hours on it.
As you said yourself, you're a "strong driver/user/believer in GTR2" then i think you've answered your own question mafrien'.
Hope to c y'all on .trk soon.

Check out our RACE07 download sections.

Over 40 tracks to add into the sim and over a hundred cars to boot. And it's only been out a very short time.

Is it true that the online racing in this game is more closer and "bumper to bumper" like? I like close races and a healthy online community. Does Race 07 offer that?

Yeah its close in every class (Particularly the single seaters)Where close racing comes as standard and the excitment never really ends there. I think though if you are thinking of buying it (Which you should ) Do offline first before online.
