Default Addon cars crowd my races

Is there a way to fix the addon cars from all being in my race? if i try to run a race with 30 cars and i have 28 addon cars in the class i'm running i'll only get two other cars that are different then the addon ones, myself and one other; why is this and can it be fixed?

What do you mean by add-on cars?

Do you mean different paints, or cars like the Gordini, TR4, 250SWB and so on?

I don't seem to have this problem. How many of the original cars do you own? Perhaps this is a factor.

Both actually, the gordini and corolla as well as addon cars, it seems like the addon/painted standalone cars all try to be in every race.

From my observations, the game will try and make up a grid of as many different driver names as possible.

I did notice when I first installed the Gordini mod they did tend to over-run my TC-65 grids. As a consequence, I went through and weeded most of the skins out and just kept the ones I thought looked good (3 to be precise).

I have also done the same with the Corolla's, I only have 3 of those as well.

If you have add-on skins or cars installed, they all will be used in off-line races. So a 6-car race with the standard car set will turn into a 20-car race if you have installed a lot of skins for that particular car. This happened to me after installing quite a few Mini skins for our Mini League. The solution is to remove all add-ons before doing off-line races, or make a separate install with only the default cars and skins.

Here is a nice car picking utility to solve this very issue.
I always use it when I race in single player to pick exactly which cars I want to race with.

This also allows you to use any of the new add on cars with any car you want
For instance you need to pick the Cortina if you want the add on Toyota to show up in single player, If you want no Cortina's to show up in your race you can just turn them all off.

One thing you need to be aware of is that if you have used it to “turn off a car” that car will also not be available for on line use.
So if you join a server online and someone is using that car your game will not be able to load it and you will get that looping load screen thing. So I reset all the cars I’m likely to see online back on. For when I feel like getting hit from the back or blocked and want to do some pickup racing LOL.
This also works both ways
So if you are hosting an online game and say you want to let the 289 Cobra run, but you don’t want a bunch of jerks in 427 Cobras showing up in your race you can set them to off and anyone trying to join with a 427 will get the car not on server massage.
This is a bit clumsy but it will work

Here is the link.

I had the same 'problem'though for me as a Mini-nutter it's not a real problem

Since I had about 80 ad-on Minis and no add-on Alfas, the car became a rare sight in TC-65 races...
I could have ditched some Minis. Instead I added heaps of Alfas.
Then I also added heaps of Abarths, and so on...

Now, if I select just TC-65 and a 30-car race there's no guessing what I'll get.
Usually there's a fair 'average'of the different car-types.
But I may not see the same skin turn up more than once a month, which makes for very
very different races.

I'd hate to revert to having races with that red Alfa in sixfold... and 3 blue Minis...

Hahahahaa
Yes, it tries to get as many driver-names as possible.
And as you have mmore add-on cars than default cars, you may never
see that blue Mini again...

and in the 'cup-races' you have to do to earn points/gold cups/silver medals,
when it was first ONLY Minis now you get ALL Minis....

I have tried this utility. It doesn't work for me. Is it XP specific? I have 2000 Pro.

Hi CX650
Hmm Yes I think it may be XP specific.
I switched from 2000 to xp a year ago and thought I was the last one LOL
