Default SaltFlats Test Track for rFactor by SuperL98

Version 1.0

Unzip files to GameData\Locations directory.

>>>> rFactor\GamData\Locations\SaltFlats

This is a simple straight five mile track on a Salt Flat for high speed testing.
Rfactor & GTR2 don't like open ended tracks, so we do have to make some compromises.

Two working modes

OPEN PRACTICE - PRIVATE TEST

RACE WEEKEND - STANDING START, only three cars allowed to race (side by side)

Still some graphics problems with the rear view mirror (for the first mile) and some lines in the sky.

Rev limiter "note" will appear (on some cars) at the start line, but you can ignore it (I set the pit speed to 5000 KMH).

I’ve been asked several times to convert this from my GTR2 version.
Open ended tracks are not good with Rfactor or GTR2, so we have to live with some compromises.

Let me know if it works OK?

Video of track is here (low quality)

Sorry, I don’t have (or know much about) GTL

I mostly work with GTR2, and sometimes EVO & rFactor

When you say "Rfactor & GTR2 don't like open ended tracks, so we do have to make some compromises", does that mean that there is no finish line and a timed run? I get to the finish line, but then what do I do. The AI tries to go through the barrier, but can't get through. I tried turning around and going back to the start line, but rFactor says I am going in the wrong direction and fines me over 170,000,000 points. Can you tell me what to do at the finish line or do I just live with some compromises and pretend that I have a time for the trip?

Not sure what to say?

This is just a five-mile straight “Test Track” for testing top speed & acceleration

For one car using “Testing”

or to compare three cars using “Race Weekend” (standing start)

Never meant for lapping type racing

In “Race Weekend” mode, you should be able to “Exit To Monitor” at any time, and not receive penalties?

After the five-mile mark, you have two extra miles to slow down and ETM, or restart the race

The two checkpoints have been placed between the pits and the start line, so the timer will start in “Testing “ mode, when you cross the Start line.

Sorry if this track caused you grief

No problem, no grief. Yes, I do know that the track was not meant to have laps. I thought that it would at least give me a time to the finish, so that I could try to get a better time.

Hi, could you please make this track longer? I've found out, that the real bonneville track is about 12-13 miles long. would be better for topspeed. Specially by the Thrust SSC!
