Default Surprise, surprise. More troubles.

For awhile now I have been having trouble with GTR2 even loading. I pop the disc in and nothing happens. It usually takes 3-5 tries of putting it in and taking it out. All perverted thoughts aside, now the disc will load but not the game itself.

I select language and then click play. After a few seconds it should start to play. Not anymore.

Any ideas of what is going on? It worked fine this past Friday, I did not touch it all weekend and now I have this problem.

Local rec department is installing a disk golf course. I think I have already found my disk.

...I wouldn't try to use it as the 'driver'...it's more of a putting disc. All joking aside, I'm assuming you have already done the 'trace' thing on the EXE to pinpoint what is going on?

"C:\GTR2\GTR2.exe -trace=1000"

Yeah, I did'nt see anything.

I would really hate to re-install the game.

Another thing I noticed, on my desktop, if you click the GTR2 icon without the disk you get the insert disk window. I don't even get that anymore.

Maybe your drive is dodgy?. I know you'll say, "But other games work?".
Well recently I had a problem where GTR2 would not go but other games worked fine. I ran some tests and it turned out to be the drive. Maybe worth a shot?

What, like firmware update? I already did that. What other kind of tests?

Just tried it and got the failed application window. I'm just gonna reinstall it. I guess i'll have to back up the things I really want? I can do away with 60% of the things I have downloaded.

Do a second installation at another disk or place at your comp. And test if that works, then you can bring whatever you want to that one....

i had this twice with gtr2 and both times it was that the dvd had started to fail (small crack started to appear on the inside of the disc)

So now I have to use the nocd for it to work.

Just went ahead and deleted everything. Did a fresh install and still the game will not load.

Edit: Well, okay...
Was sitting here searching the interwebs and all of a sudden, screen goes black and the game starts playing. Guess what? There was no goddamn disk in!!!

Errrrr.

Alright, how do I get the seat/view even closer to the steering wheel? When I was playing before the reinstall, I was right on top of the steering wheel. But I don't know how I got it like that.

you can map keys to your seat adjustments, alternatively you can press and hold each mouse button and move the mouse to adjust. Forget which button does what but press and hold each one alone and move mouse to find out.
