Default Strange AI behaviour during 24h-races

Hi there and a happy new year!

Well heres my new problem

I started playing 24h races a few days ago and now after about 3 hours of driving the AI drivers got reduced from 35 to avout 20 remaining drivers.

They crash the hell out of the Hockenheimring. Well... this is the first problem. They drive completly reckless while overtaking I saw while watching replay. Just no braking even if they head directly towards another drivers car.

AI difficulty is set to 110% and agressivity level is set to "normal".

The other thing I now encountered is that after about the 3 hours I drove so far the lap times of the AI got very worse.

From one lap to the other the AI drives about 6-8 seconds slower - per lap.

So I just pass them everywhere I want...

What could cause this?

More than likely the AI cars have alot of damage therefore they are very slow, try changing the values in the Damage file

Agreed, read the Von Dutch sticky thread. It will lead you down many improvements

Ok, thx 4 your replies at first. Their lap times get better again but still it didnīt help concerning their reckless driving. I tried uploading a video to show what happens but due to my poor internet connection its not possible.

One example:

A slower Porsche was chased by a faster one. The slower one missed is wing so the faster Porsche easily could overtake. But what des the AI do instead?
Stay on its line and bump the back of the other car. And then the AI did not waste a thought about braking or something useless like this and decided to push the slower car on the straight and the following corners for about 35 seconds and then both crashed...

And things like this happened often during the race... its just not fun.

I always start at the last position to have some overtaking fun but after an hour or so Iīm first and nothing happens anymore. And I am not a very good driver... itīs just a complete AI fail...

I think its in the thread that has already been mentioned, but reducing the rate of AI collision detection will also help your race. You'll just have to put up with parts of AI cars passing through each other at some points. Its better in the long run (no pun intended ), however.

Better than a 24hour race with only one participant. Iīll give it a try. Thank you again

Following Von Dutch's tutorial is very useful. It takes some time to get everything work as you want, but it's worth it. (and it's not really very difficult, I can do it and I'm no programmer.)

I personally have highly VonDutchified install for GTs and LMPs, and my latest 6 hour race at Spa was very competitive from beginning to the end, so it really works.
