Default iracing down?

I just bought iracing a few days ago and now I can't practice

When I go to log in, it says down for maintenance, which is fine, but FFS I just want to hot lap, but I can't even run a game I'm paying for off-line.

yep - it's reconfiguring for the new S1-2011 Season. Offline would be nice, but that's iracing.

You can start a private test session (one car, one track) before Maintenance starts and practice all you like, provided you don't come out of the session.

Like I just did for the past two hours!!

zapz,
So you ask, "how would I know to do that, start a test session just before they start maintenance?"

On the member page, down on the right side of the page is an announcements section. It will list the upcoming maintenance so we can all be prepared.

You will discover the service is really, really deep and the interface is powerful. It's well thought out and complete. And fun. If you find yourself with some time, click on the menu bar in the middle of the page and look at some of the reference stuff. There are so many things going on it's amazing and just one page doesn't come close to spelling it all out.

Thanks for the reply guys. I contacted tech support and they said it's on their list to allow for off-line driving when the server is down.

Yes, that would be good news but I doubt it will allow multiple practice.

It wouldn't be too difficult to provide and secondary authentication server, which is in effect all that happens for a private test session, which is why it works now if you log in prior to maintenance.

If it does allow multiple practice sessions I'll be very impressed/happy.

It was off-line only. Who knows though, they might have just said that so I stopped complaining.

It is always the same in Wk13 and sometimes with updates the following week.

iRacing's uptime is actually very good if you look at the % over time.

Anyway, I welcome the downtime for the updates!!

Outside of Wk13 and occassionally the following week, I've never had an issue and since you are warned about them well in advance it's easy to work around the updates by starting a private test session before they start.

+1

I love that we get such frequent updates. This particular one will likely include the Sprint Car release as well.

Totally offtopic but I don't want to start a thread for this.......

Is there anyway to message another iracing member?? I found someone I know on iRacing and I don't have their email address and can't find them on facemaster or myface.
