Hey guys
Wasn't entirely sure where to post this so I'm putting it here... Playing with my G25 and smelt some electrical burning...then the force feedback went kind of crazy. So I stopped playing with it for a while thinking that it was dead. Just a few days ago I said what the hell and tried it again and it was finicky at first but then it worked fine ![]() Now I went to try it today and new symptom: plug everything in and the wheel doesn't perform it's self-test like it usually does...nothing...nada! All buttons on the steering wheel work and everything else works...just there is no steering input. I opened the wheel and saw that the force feedback motors (I think that's what they are? The cylindrical things) had some soot looking stuff on the outside of them... Nothing on the PCB was burnt. What should I do now? I'm way out of Logitech's warranty... Any ideas? Thanks, Elliott |

Thanks
So short of reading through the 11 pages of that thread (which I will find time eventually), what can I do? Can I fix the board or have it sent somewhere? |

If your wheel still has the warranty then just send it all, and assembled, to get a new one, otherwise you will have to clean these motors, preferably inside too, but that can also destroy them if you don't it very carefully, also you will need to remove the IRF transistor, and put a new one on the main board or maybe both.

These black things, one is the IRF7103 as we can see on the pic, if I'm not wrong, the other is not the same but a IRF7142. |

Thanks.
Unfortunately my wheel is no longer under warranty. So what do I need to change exactly? Is there a specific thing that goes on these wheels or is it all different things? It appears now that everything works, except for the wheel inputs. The last time I tried it (I believe) there was no force feedback on the wheel and the inputs from the wheel were not getting transferred to my computer. |

Hi. Did you end up fixing it or finding out what you needed to do exactly to fix it?
Your description matches exactly what happened to mine (Bought 2nd hand 3years ago, never a week without use and not a single problem until now) Bad electrical smell that reminded me of scalextric then ffb went funny and stopped. Now I just get a dim power led but no FFB at all. I can still use it fine enough but games won't recognise left/right inputs on the wheel unless I do the rotation all the way left then right then center first. Have you tried contacting Logitech? A friend had his wheel replaced out of warranty when the same thing happened, & a few months ago my G25's brake pedal started sticking (mine was also out of warranty), & Logitech replaced it with a G27. I dunno if it being second hand will affect if Logitech will deal with you, maybe don't tell them unless they ask for your proof of purchase

Did he call or email? I contacted them twice but both times they just told me the usual (Unplug, try different slot, machines etc) then if that didn't work to take it to the store I bought it from if it's within a year from purchase.
I'd really prefer fixing the G25, or finding another one. I use the sequential shifter quite a bit. |

I dunno what he did, I emailed them. They said the same things to me (troubleshooting wise). If you gave them the serial no. they should be able to tell it's out of warranty. I would have preferred to of kept my G25 as well, but as they offered me a free G27 replacement I just couldn't refuse

That discount is good for other wheels. Why not pick up a Driving Force GT?

Fanatec Carrera is 100eu
http://www.fanatec.de/webshop/new_eu...7b392c7fcb6cbf Better pedals then other "cheap" wheels. I have it working in all sims well, 200% better then Momo or DFGT Only problem GT Legends would not find/assign 3 of the left wheel buttons. ![]() Used Joy2Key to map them from keystrokes worked. |

My G25 had sticky pedals and a burning smell. I contacted the European website customer service in January this year and they offered me a free G27 after I explained my problems. I was amazed as it was a good year+ out of warranty, and I had no proof of purchase.
They gave me a number to write on a piece of paper, which I had to put next to the G25 and take a photo, five days later I took delivery of my new wheel. Amazing customer service |

I have some parts on order which will hopefully arrive this coming week. If I fix it I'll let you know.
It's so frustrating reading all these stories of people getting replacement wheels I contacted them 3 seperate times but no offers of replacement or discounts. Fanatec Carrera looks alright, Id like to test out out. Last time I looked at the Fanatecs they were much more expensive. |

Here is better info then sale link. http://www.fanatec.de/html/index.php?id=280&lang=en Compare http://www.fanatec.de/html/pw_overview.htm Personally I would have it over Momo or DFGT It is a bit noisy when turning fast locks but not too bad. Sort of sounds like a Red Momo ( alloy gear drive ) Someone can correct me but it has alloy/metal gears not to plastic. ? Anyway pedals and shifter I have no complaint for the money. Wheel is 30cm same size as GT3/GT2 Good feature they have mounts in base for 4 x 6mm screws to mount more solid. *** I can't tell from instructions how long bolts should be depending on base thickness or if the mounts have stoppers. |
