Geoffers, you pulled a fast one on me. I didn't even know this version of the track existed. I was expecting the modern track.
![]() Now I'll have to find time to learn it before tomorrow afternoon. |

It's quite an easy version to learn Bill, 4 or 5 laps should do it.

(Disclaimer: not griping at anyone, just describing the race
)That was a confusing start. Not quite sure what was going on, but I gather not everyone was being put onto the grid? Started a bit slow and lost two places, then a third. Three laps in Malcolm picked an "interesting" place to attempt a pass, hit me in the right rear wheel and bent something. Car wouldn't turn under power after that. Fillneuve was warping in and out of view behind me, and got by when I dropped a wheel off on L7. Spent the next two laps trying to guess where his car was. I lost track of how many times I went through his car, but on L9 GTR2 decided to make it a bit solid. Went straight through on the back straight, and the car just shuddered a bit, then rear ended his just before the braking zone, then a third time under heavy braking I went straight through again. GTR2 decided the back of my car had hit him, throwing the rear end two feet straight up in the air. Needless to say, this hindered my attempt to get the car slowed down for the turn and I went off into those fraking hay bales some sadistic soul placed right where you'd end up if you braked too late. Bounced off the hay-bales, then off the fence, continuing to do interesting things to my wheel alignment. The rest of the race was pretty much trying to not drive off into the hay-bales in the esses. Lousy drive off the turns as well, until I caught Lade towards the end. My apologies for slamming into the back of you on that straight. The timing was perfect. You lifted right when I was in the center of your smoke trail. At high speed it got so thick I couldn't see your car at all. By the time I saw you coming at me there was no time to move or slow. I slowed down and waited for you, letting Kimi by, before I saw you listed as a DNF and sped back up. End result: A bit more creative wheel alignment, slightly slower car. I have no idea how I finished up as high as I did. I'm amazed at the amount of punishment the Cobra took and kept going. All that abuse and the wheel never got stuck in the bonnet (for those of you that have not discovered it while "jumping" the car on a hilly track, this is a bug of the Cobra ).Still, all in all, it was a fun race. Thanks all! |

![]() Was there a problem with the track? I tested it offline & it seemed to work OK, although it is limited to 24 cars I think. Do we need to use a different version of Watkins Glen for WNR? |

Where did you finish btw?I had lots of CTDs last night and forgot to top up my fuel the final time - and I only had 5 laps worth Ah well, at least I've had some practice so I should do a bit better at wnr. There did seem to be couple of pits problems Geoffers - probably worth using another vers foir WNR. Shame as it's a really good track. |

). I think I was 5th or 6th. Lost another place just at the end. I think at one point I was back up to third.I did enjoy this version of the track once I got used to it, but was quite surprised that I had never seen it seeing as I really like Watkins (I've been to more non-virtual races there than anywhere else). |

Some pretty awful lag last night, not sure if it was me or not, but eventually I was hit twice in 2 corners by an invisible car(s), the 2nd of which was hard enough to send me flying into the barrier, with a blown engine the result. Real shame, was having a whale of a time trying to hold the Cobras and Daytonas at bay, and mostly failing to be fair. Loved this version of Watkins though, really suited the cars, shame about the pit/grid slot problems....

...There was quite a bit of car changing during quali, and could have been part of the problem. There does appear to be a problem with the track... several pit locations put you in the fields, and all on the same spot. No prob during quali, but when you go to race you get an instant DQ ![]() (it happened to me & Daz, and possibly one other) My working hypothesis is that the game simulates a "drive" to the grid, in a straight line (notice how Mal's car collided with Dent's when he went to the grid) ...and if you're parked in the field the line takes you through a cut track at speed However, Aramid's (Henry's) suggestion to turn the flag rules off saved the day Some of us were still parked in the field, but all got transported to the grid without problem. I think if we all stick to one car in quali then we can enjoy it again on Wednesday

I haven't installed GTR2 or P&G2 on my new PC. I was rather hoping that getting a new PC would be a sign to the Gods that it was time for P&G3 to be released

I'm guessing it'll be released when it's ready....and not a minute sooner
. I think it's best to race what you have, not worry about what is coming mate, or is your new HDD so small it can't take the hit on space?....
