Default Ok, I'm an idiot :)

Yesterday, in an attempt to map the keys I wanted to use for Skyrim (they were reserved by the game), I used a keybaord remapping tool.

After I made all my changes, it said it needed to reboot. Upon reboot, the password screen came up...

Even though I wrote down the key changes, my password would not work. I tried over and over again, nothing. Even the password recovery USB drive I created did not work.

I know what you're going to say, reboot into safe mode and log on as Administrator and reset the password.

Well normally that would work, but i use The Administrator account as my personal account. I don't use the normal user account with admin privileges, I use The Administrator account and delete the user account whenever I install Windows.

So I had to spend all day yesterday re-installing Windows and all my apps and games

No, the keys I wanted to use in game are reserved by the game. So I had to remap keyboard with a 3rd party tool.

doh!
Going to get my copy of Skyrim tomorrow, the reserved keys thingy does sound disappointing.
Although if the keys are the same as in Morrowind, i can live with that.

It's only the numberpad keys that are reserved. If you're used to using WSAD, then you're fine.

Been modding BethSoft titles since Morrowind, and can say that it is possible to remap the keys by editing the .ini IF you know what the key codes are to begin with. I'm not sure if anyone's gotten that far yet, but it's a pretty good bet that someone will work them out in the next few weeks.
