Default 60 LeMans GTR2 for GTR2 by philrob

My version of the track represents the 60s variant.Between 1932 until the end of 1967 the track was basically unchanged.
After some discussion on the Sim sites and looking at more footage i feel that the sand mound at the end of Arnarge was a smaller sand trap running along the track edge and the large mound was, if it existed further up the run off road.
No Armco is evident.

Absolutely superb!
Couple of laps in P&G with Porsche 906/8 amazing!
Had to double take when i thought i saw Micheal Delaneys early 911 parked up trackside, expected to see Steve Mcqueen laying in the middle of the track with a camera!

Badbob,
i created the GTR2/GTL versions from my original Rfactor base track, this has no chicanes or armco. You can find it here:

http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=32607

If the AI are messed up in this Rfactor version, replace it with the GTR2 version and rename it, just to see if this improves things.

regards

Hi Phil,
sorry to bother you, but I found that sometimes the sandtrap you mention ( After some discussion on the Sim sites and looking at more footage i feel that the sand mound at the end of Arnarge was a smaller sand trap running along the track edge and the large mound was, if it existed further up the run off road. ...) is not there ... Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. Same goed for one of the grandstands across from the pits. The spectators are there (floating in the air) though.
I seem to remember I had the same problem with Sunalp2's 67_Lemans ?
Something wrong with my installation or has anybody else encountered this phenomenon ??
I have taken some screenshots which I can upload if need be.
Otherwise fabulous, very high FPS as well

Cheers,
Brulaap
.

I don't mean to whine, but really, what is the point of all that "quicksand" right next to the track? A lot of cars are difficult to control at top speed, and when a car gets into that stuff you can't drive out of it. Can that stuff just be eliminated from every track? Please.

@ Bullitt5435:

I guess the keyword here is realism ...

Brulaap,

we found in testing that a certain car mod gave these problems, removal of 1 model of car from the pack cured it.It would be interesting to know what mod you are using and also if you have ran the track with other mods.

When you're playing the game, what really matters? Realism or drivability? And if you're going to play the realism card, if a car got 50 meters off the road, it may have crashed, but it did not fall into an endless abyss. And as to realism, some of the car mods are pathetically unrealistic. In the various F1 mods, 1988, 1993, 1994, and 1995, the Ferraris are shockingly fast, though they were not very competitive in those years. Also, in the P&G mod, the Ford GT's handle like oxcarts and have nothing close to their real top end of 220+.

Hi Phil,
I tried the track with lots of other combinations of cars, but the problem keeps popping up in a random way.
I tried it in a plain vanilla GTR2 installation (the only addon being the 60_Lemans track) and the same problem is there as well.
I'm out of ideas on how the find the culprit
Hope you can find it somehow !
Cheers,
Brulaap

brulaap,

i hav'nt managed to find this problem yet, other than by running the cars i mentioned, which i assume are using a material name used by the track objects.I will try to track it down though.
