Installing tracks follows almost the same procedure except that once mod manager is open, you need to go to options and uncheck "show mods only". Then point the mod manager to the folder you have your tracks in.

Ok, now activated at isi (just made another account, it was easier in the end) but I`ve saved a question for you guys.
![]() I keep getting DQ`d in qually... ![]() I`ll do a lap then start another (might get three) but then the black flag/rectangle appears in the top left corner and when I leave the track there`s a dirty big DQ beside my driver`s name... Now, once I left the pits before I got permission and I remember passing a yellow flag a couple of times but I`ve never noticed doing anything that should cause me being DQ`d... Is this some kind of bug or am I doing something (unknowingly) naughty? |

What series and what track?
If you leave the pits too early, you get a stop n go. If you don't do it within 4 laps(?), you get a DQ. |

You could well have a point about leaving the pits too early as I know I did that a couple of times (especially with the 60`s as I never noticed the guy standing at the pit exit the first few times lol) but I do watch for that now and still seem to be getting DQ`d. I`ll watch more carefully now though as your probably spot on, I`ve just not been noticing I`ve been given a stop and go and I have the message centre turned off ![]() One other thing... I`ve noticed that when I have a crash and knock off a couple of wheels or catch fire when I go to view the replay (by pressing R, not actually watching a saved replay) that the damage is there on the car from the start of the replay, long before I`ve actually had the smash. I take it that this is a known issue and will be getting a fix... does it happen for you too with b85? |

I'm having the same damage glitch, it's been there all along. Also if I knock off a wheel (or 2) then watch the saved replay the wheels I've damaged flash on & off.

Just a curiosity this time guys... there`s a button/link in my profile page at isi that says:
"Sync Forum With rFactor2" Just wondering what this does and what are the benefits of doing it. |

It syncs your rFactor2 account (the one that bought rF2) to your forum account.
I have no idea why someone would want to do that?? |

![]() I guess it did sound like a stupid question but I was just wondering what it did when activated. I`ve "synced" now but the button/link is still showing in my profile and nothing seems to have changed in any way.

Take note of the icon under your profile in posts.
There is a button says rFactor not validated. Once you sync accounts it disappears. |

Since we're talking about the forum I'll ask here, anyone knows how that reputation system works? I see everybody is "on a distunguished road", there are a few people who are "shameless" and then there is gears who is "going to become famous soon enough" lol.
Do I know even know if someone approves of my post? I approved so many posts but not sure if ever received anything... |

Guys...
Would anybody have a setting they know works best for having the shadows show properly under the car wheels (especially open wheelers) as I`m getting a gap in the shadows from the bottom of the tyre to the road. It`s this line in the player file: (I think?) Tire Ground Offset="0.00000" // Offset so tire shadows work properly on ground ![]() EG:

I believe it's an issue with shadows (and graphics in general) not being fully implemented in-game and especially in replays. I don't know if a .plr settings is going to make much difference.
If you notice, you can smoke your tires on track, but it doesn't show at all in replay. I have shadows on MAX in-game and I barely see them during replay. So I don't know? |

Mmm... maybe it`s just something that`ll get fixed up with time then. I have noticed the tyre smoke etc not showing in the replays too.
Oh well, might try experimenting with the setting just to see but maybe it`ll have no effect like you say. |

Just out of curiosity what`s the story with new builds/updates to rf2?
Like how often do they appear? Weekly basis? Monthly basis? Or just when they`re ready... |

Just when they're ready sounds about right, though I think the Monza/BT20 combo is pretty imminent....

One other thing, do they tend to be complete builds or for eg when the Old Monza/BT20 combo comes along will it just be an update with that in it? |

With build 85, all of the other series received an update except the 60's series. So I doubt we will be seeing another build number, just the "60's update" - which happens to include Monza and a new car. |

Can you delete packages(those rfcmp or what ever) after install or do they have to stay there forever? Problem with that is that soon rF2 will take whole HDD(maybe I exaggerate a little...) when it grows and grows.

You can archive PACKAGES wherever you like, you do not have to have it in your rF2 root folder. You leave a empty Packages folder in rF2 for any downloads from GET MOD and server details file. You do not need access to packages whilst in rF2. So, if you have packages archived like me and use GET MOD it will download to the default packages. It will still work in session and you just move it to archive when you close rF2. So if SSD space is a premium leave the Packages folder archived on a Sata with your sim patches. Any Sata will install mods barely a few seconds slower then SSD. Sata storage per GB is 8 times cheaper then SSD. IE: SSD-3 6OGB = $60 SATA-3 500GB = $60. That way you have less block write to SSD as well. Last edited by DurgeDriven; 28 December 12 at 03:08. |

Like DD said, you can also keep them. Put them on DVD, or another drive somewhere. For archive you can copy your Packages folder with its content, or just the content within Packages. I would suggest you leave the Packages folder in place and remove the content once installed for either deleting it, burning to DVD, putting on another HDD, whatever. It is up to you which will suit you best. |

Just to reiterate leave the folder as any mods you may create are installed to the default Packages along with server details, even if you have already changed Packages location in Mod Manager. I would say this will be fixed. On storage with Sata dropping in price I realized.... 1000GB @ average 4GB a disc of the good DVD I buy costs me $60 ( $12 a spindle) 1TB Blue Sata is $75. Difference is burning 250 discs takes sightly more time then a 1TB transfer. Then there is the 250 in/out trays, Nero ( whatever) setups, writing name on discs, then finding the one you want when you want..... lol Not worth the hassle to save $15 imo. Isn't the content of packages folder the parameter of what state of version one's addons are?

Big folder is not an issue. It would just be quite bad game design to force ppl keep those installers, but it's a good to know that I can delete them after install, until now I've left them to be in that packages folder.
Talkin' 'bout size... I've dedicated 1Tb-HDD for race sims, about 400Gb used just now. Just like 1 HDD for Steam. |

You want your Packages pathed to rF2 no matter where you put it. Like .......what if you need to uninstall something to remove a rfm. To re-install it you got to go find a package stored somewhere ?

Mmm... I think it may have to do with this line in the player file:
Auto Detail Framerate="0" // Details and visible vehicles will be automatically reduced (by up to half) if framerate is under this threshold (0 to disable) Having this at 0 may help... |

Not sure what's happening here, been off of rFactor2 a while
The current build I have is 198, when I go through the Launcher and click update>Query:Checking for updates. Please wait for result. Update to build 218 found. Click "Download" to continue or "Update Automatically" to complete all step sequentially. Update will be downloaded from http://world.rfactor.net/Sync/Downlo...ble/218/Files/ The launcher just sits there, and does nothing?...So, I go here: http://rfactor.net/web/rf2/rf2dl/ Question:.. Must I delete rFactor2 v198? I'm guessing, build 218, is a complete new install and NOT an update?...Could someone lend an old fart a hand please!

Yep same thing happens to me. I'm downloading the 'lite' installer from their website, to see if that works.

Swifty, I don't believe the auto-updater works with this one. If you go to the official rF2 forum thread "Build 218", most advise to install the "Lite" version after making copies of your "Packages" file and "Player" files(to be safe!). I've read Install after uninstalling 198 build or install "Lite" version right on top of it. I installed "Lite" version after uninstalling 198 and I was good to go no problems. All my package and player settings were intact.
