Question Invisible Rear Wing....how to!??

The title says it all
Im using the Porsche SuperCup 2009 for GTR 2, for a personal use 'mod' and i'm just trying to get some experience with GTR2's files and modeling and all, so here goes:
I did think of creating an diferent .cas file just for this car, but then the motec woulnd't show up :/ i mena, it shows up, but it won't work, it's just a simple texture and it won't work.
So i then tried to create an empty file for the rear wing so i could just use the normal .cas file and the rear wing would show up as...invisible(!?)
So, either explain the empty wing to me, or just tell me how to create a different .cas and not have problems with the motec (it always happens when i create my own modified .cas file, the motec doens't work)
thanks in advance

Not sure if this will solve your problem, but I do know that when you create new CAS files, typiclly you will loose needles on the gauges. If you add a new cockpit file named same as CAS file the needles appear fine. You might give this a try and see if it is the same for motec.

Let me know if this works for you.

Good Luck

Yep, that's a strategy i thought of, and after reading what you told me i tried it out and of course it worked just fine
But now theres my main problem:
So, by doing what you said i succeeded in removing those parts that hold the rear wing, but now i wan't to tell the game that, that one version of the 997 GT3 doesn't have a rear wing
I already took care of the .hdc file and all, that's not the issue. The thing is that:
-IF i remove the lines in the .cas file that refer to the rear wing, NONE of the cars will have a rear wing (and i don't want that, since i want the racing version of the 997 GT3 Cup that i downloaded to stay the same, but also wan't to have the road version im modifying)
-IF i get a diferent .cas file, and link the road 997 GT3 .car to this .cas file, yes the rear wing won't show up like i wanted to, just by deleting the rear wing lines in the graphics file-yeeey success..! but wait..now the motec still won't show up

So basicly i just wanted to know if its possible to get a completely empty file to replace the rear wing files, so that, it would still be loaded, but in a way it would be like an invisible part of the car
hope i made myself clear
thanks

I am a little confused, but let me see if I can help. You should now have two CAS files, each with a different name. For example ORIGINAL.CAS and NO_WING.CAS. You shoud also have two COCKPIT files with the same naming structure (two different names).

In each car file you should include the appropriate CAS name reference. The existing cars will all look for the ORIGINAL.CAS file and the cars that you change should look for the NO_WING CAS file.

I hope this is what you need and good luck to you. ALWAYS make backups of any files that you are editing so that you can take a step back if you need to.

Best Wishes,

I tried that cockpit technique..didn't work
What i did was: i extracted the default cpit.gtr and just changed the name from PORSCHE_997GT3RSR_xxxx to PORSCHE_997GT3_xxxx
so i just removed the 'RSR' from every file's name in the cpit.gtr, then i compressed everything in a diferent cpit.gtr (cpit_ROAD.gtr)
then in that diferent .cas file (PORSCHE_997GT3_ROAD.cas) and then in this .cas file for the road car i changed some lines
for example: where it said PORSCHE_997GT3RSR_xxxx i changed it again to PORSCHE_997GT3_xxxx to match the names of the files in the cpit_ROAD.gtr file
no CTD's which meant that everything was working fine, but again, no motec
I'm starting to think that you can't have more than one .cas file for each car folder

Once you create the new cockpit file, you do not have to make any edits to that file at all. It is identical to the original file, except for the name.

It is my understanding of how the game works is that it will load only one set of needles (motec) per CAS and cockpit combination.

You need to have an original CAS file and cockpit file.

You need to create a new CAS file and cockpit file (as noted above).

Your new CAS file and cockpit files need to be similar in naming structure, using what I understand from your post I would assume the following:

CAS FILE = PORSCHE_997GT3_ROAD.CAS
COCKPIT = PORSCHE_997GT3_ROAD_CPIT.GTR

In the new CAS file edit the reference to your new PORSCHE_997GT3_ROAD_CPIT.GTR.

The name should be the same as the existing, except for the "997GT3" that you changed.

We will get there yet. I don't know if I have this mod or not, as I am away from home at the moment. If I do, I will see if I can do what you want then I will explain to you so that next time you will be able to do for your own use.
