I wish to collect infos about editing AIW files in GTRevo using the Rfactor AIW editor. I hope all track editors might contribute with their experiences.
I have been trying to use the program. It is quite easy to change AI lines. Best way is to use the command CREATE CURVE (a tutorial is included in the editor). What I still do not get is that sometimes AI is strangely slow at some WP immediately BEFORE or AFTER a curve created with the command (while being consistent throughout the curve). Also the program states that WP_POS should not be changed (thus modifying only the ALPHA value which is supposed to be the real AI line) but I found that if the WP is too far from the ALPHA position the AIs have some troubles takin curves. Another value I tried to modify is WP_CHEAT (hoping to speedup AI at some spots) but it did not sort any effect ![]() So far I am able to draw correct AI lines but the misterious slow behaviors at some spots on the track (like unnecessarily reducing gears just after a curve) are still unsolved.... I miss A LOT of informations about editing AIW so I hope everybody involved with this topic will write down some suggestions....

If the AI slows down it's usually because it's braking for a turn. Watch out for kinks in the fast path or abrupt turns that may seem innocent enough.
Remember the AI doesn't really know the track layout, it's just following paths in the AIW. It's possible & probable the AI in Evo reacts differently to small changes in the AIW pathing. I haven't had time to test things out in EVO too much. |

What editor are you using matmo? i want to learn how to correct some aiw lines in Evo, espically addon tracks, it seems addon tracks dont suit Evo 100%, most of the problems seem to be with the braking side, Evo aiw seem to brake to late or to light when on certain addon tracks.
Khan, i was wondering if you have ever looked at Mills from rfactor? there is one bit of the aiw that could do with some small bit of work, and then it would work great in Evo? |

I am using the AIW and CAM editor for Rfactor.
I have been hard working on Singapore AIW. With this new AIW file AI drives about 4 seconds faster I only tested it in F3000 qualifying, not sure if something wrong might happen in race

Anybody knows how to solve the issue with AI cars stucked in the garage bouncing against wall and unable to exit pits?

Move the pit out some.
The guys working on the P&G mod had that problem and worked on it for years. |

feedback about new matmo's AI line in singapore: i tested it with different cars and mod and it's a lot better then original one. IMHO the most important item to solve is AIs braking in the right turn between the straights in the back of pits, which could be done in full throttle.
I know how is difficult find out a solution on this.... and i'm quite sure you already seen this http://forum.racesimcentral.com/showthread.php?t=254112 .... if not, i hope it might help you bye & thanks |

I'm not sure how that value works but I usually just move the actual garage spots forward using the editor.
Often they are just set back in the garage and the AI turns before making it out of the garage and will get stuck. It's possible garage depth may work though, try it and see. |
