Converting picture files

Looking for a free conversion program that will change .bmp picture files to .jpg and .vcr files to .avi files. I can not find any program like this that is not a demo version... and all the demos ruin the file by placing a stamp on the image stating what free trial program was used for the conversion. I can't seem to find a free program that will do these conversions without it being a trial version of a purchase program. Any suggstions?

I've tried putting a .bmp file in MS Paint then saving as a .jpg and it seems to work. Not sure about the .vcr to .avi, although you might try VirtualDub. It's a freeware program so you're out nothing to try it.

vcr to avi is trickier, I only know of commercial programs.

FastStone is another one. You can do batch convert to convert a whole mess of your screenshots at once.
