Default Sorry if this is a no-no

But I've been told about a GTR Evo mod for rfactor, just wondering if anyone here may have a link for me?

Sorry again if this shouldn't be asked.

Sure:

Seriously though, yeah, I don't think that's allowed. RACE06 I thought was actually better in the rFactor conversion, but 07 and Evo are much better by themselves than could ever be done in an rF conversion.

I was just at best buy yesterday and they are still stocked with $19.95 copies. NFS ProStreet was down to $9.95, $4.95 cheaper and it will be worth the purchase!

You will not be sorry. I tried a GTR Evo mod for rFactor and it didn't even come close to the real thing.

And if you like lower powered cars on short roller coaster tracks, I suggest you buy STCC also. It's almost like rally racing on tarmac, what a blast!!

I used to have Race07 installed on my pc and it ran nice and smooth. I bought Evo a few weeks ago and installed it and it runs like a pig through water. It doesn't matter how much I lower the graphics/turn off anti aliasing whatever, it still stutters along.

I did install over my Race07 install initially as the Evo install pointed to that folder path automatically. I then uninstalled the whole thing and did a fresh install of Evo, but it's still the same.

I though Evo was just an expansion pack with new cars and tracks, but it's done something else to my install as Race07 was fine.

Any ideas anyone? Bit annoying as I was really looking forward to having this and not only that, but I quite liked Race07 and this is knackered now as well.

Things I've tried so far -

Tried textures at all levels, lowered visable cars, turned off anti-alaising.

I did ctrl, alt del and checked that it is using both cores of my dual core cpu. I know it's not optimized for this, but it is using both cores.

So after lowering all the graphics to minimum it still stutters, so I'm not convinced its a graphics issue. I can play Unreal Tournament 3 maxxed out and it's silky smooth so I can't see it being the issue with Evo?

I love the way everyone says - its only $9.99, just buy it.
Here in AUS, you go to EB games - you pay $89.99 for GTR Evo, GTR2 is still $49.99!
Even on eBay, $50 for GTR Evo delivered. I try to buy from the states where it is $12.99 and guess what - they won't post to AUS because of some stupid rule.
When I bought rFactor, if I clicked on the AUS icon - $40, I ended up paying in Canadian dollars and got it almost $15 cheaper - all for digital content - go figure.
Sorry for the rant, but I am getting tired of people saying just buy it, its only XXX dollars here in States. oTher countries aren't that fortunate.

thats simply not the case hobo, i'm running a A64 4000+ singlecore and GTR-E run's fantastically well, plus, I've had the pleasure of trying Washy's system and if i remember correctly it ran Rfactor superbly well

Hey there Washington dude , the only thing i can think of is Gfx drivers? are you running ATI or Nvidia buddy? Have you tried running it with V-sync on and then off? you could experiment with other driver's and if it's an ATI card you're using you could try the Omega driver's, it's a long shot i know but it'll be worth it, trust me lol

Hey Jay how's it going? I'll give the graphics driver update a go. I do have an ATi card so are the Omega drivers better than the official ones? The only other thing I haven't tried is the v-sync. I have it set to off at the moment as I though it only effected screen tear which I don't get. Just stutters.

Thanks for the advice anyways, I'll download the latest drivers now as the one's I have are probably pretty old. I'm of the 'if it's not broke don't fix it' variety so I don't alway update to the latest drivers so it's worth a try.

Cheers Hobo, but my system should play Evo with room to spare.

Your EB is ripping you off, it should be only $69.99 that's what I paid here at EB the day it was released. It's still that price now

omega drivers are good for old cards. I mean old.i tried them on my ATI 1600 512 PRO and they were worse, very grainy. I have now changed to a Nvidia 7300gt 512mb and it is working much better than my ATI 1600 pro.

EVO has greater system specs than Rfactor. 2.4 ghz min 3.0 ghz recomended.

For the stuttering, try D3D overrider, made a hell of a difference with my machine. It comes with Riva tuner

Thanks gazman, but even $70 is still a long way off the $20 that everyone else gets it for.The mongrels still want $49.95 for GTL here.

Unless you prefer to run 6 hour races that run from day to evening with friends on weekends as I do, but that's just me....

Only because of the Nordschleife, that's just one massive track... The rest is pretty much the same, same graphics and physics engine etc.

So Evo is just an expansion like STCC
