Yes, the servers for this group appear to be down right now. I've dropped a message for the server owner.

night_owl, Have you tried to do a time trial for this track. Whenever I try one the car shoots out of the garage and slams into the track wall. Any ideas???

Looks like I'm out. Not a big deal, almost a relief. However the day and time chosen do contradict the poll results.

Yeah, I think is on changeable, so you get what you get. My fav setting btw.
Online racing is the best. I did not try it for years, but now I'm hooked. Very different than offline hotlapping. |

Hotlapping is about pursuing a perfect lap using a perfected setup.
What you will find in a online race is all that perfection goes out the window, and everything becomes a compromise and a best guess. The weather may change, either obviously with a downpour or subtlely with hot or cold track temps. This screws up that setup you may have perfected. Your ontrack opponents will not always cooperate, forcing you to get creative with your line. And you gotta do it for 30min. Even when the track is clear you cannot always run 10/10s because you could have an off ruining your race, plus you would run your tires bare. They are both hard work...one is about approaching perfection and the other is about compromise and avoiding mistakes. |

If you guys like it, you really should register at the GTLDK boards and make sure they know you are interested. Only 2 GTLDK members were in the race, and they think interest has gone away.
There are links to the GTLDK boards in some of my original posts in this thread. I've been unable to join the races in a while due to a change in my schedule...they need some more promoters. |

Competition depends on who shows up. Henry is pretty fast, but Gator and Poodle Keith are generally faster. Then there are usually a few backmarkers who are just learning. I raced Keith in a pickup race on Saturday and his qually lap was 2 sec below min. Luckily his race pace was slower and we had a great scrap (Abarths at Anderstorp). Then we raced some of the more powerful cars, and my 287 Cobra could not hang with his Vette. I had an advantage in the corners, but he was simply driving better than me.
