Hi everyone, just getting into GTR2 after owning if for a few years. I just started making some custom championships, I've read quite a bit about making one here in the forums which has been very helpful. But I have a few more questions reguarding vehicles.
My understanding is that my championship vehicle count is limited by the track that allows the fewest cars on track. Say I have 12 tracks, all allow 40 vehicles except for one which allows only 28 vehicles. So to avoid problems I set the number of vehicles in my championship to 28, is this correct? Under each track in the championship I can add a "Max Vehicles=", if I set the Max Vehicles= value to say 39 I am assuming this would add more cars to that race, is this correct? Lastly, I am setting up a championship with multi-classes. Say LMP1, LMP2, GT1, and GT2 for now. Is their a way to exclude specific classes at a given track? Lets say as an example I want to run only the LMP cars at a given track. I know some championships have in the past run only certain classes at one race, I thought it would be cool to run a couple of races this way as well. Thanks in advance for any advice. |

the number of vehicles part I can answer partly at least
yes, if you have 40 cars (including yours) and some track only allows something less - then some cars will be excluded (and I've never heard how this is done - it's before qualifying - they are just not present at all) - so they are locked out of getting any points, which kind of stinks yes, I believe you can set the max vehicles (as they do in the official year championship gdbs) - but it's going to do the same thing and exclude some cars - perhaps it knows to exclude the least likely to score cars - I don't know - but if you're running a full field, but personally competing in g3 or something you don't want all your direct competition eliminated. - point being that it MAY not matter if you're running GT as to the excluding classes - I don't really know - the game "cheats" in that it's set up for the specific races that came with it - so the tracks are filtered to not allow or not allow certain cars (as with the extra cars at Spa in the official championships) - it's not in the championship gdb, it's defined by the tracks and cars. so, I would think that changing the track filter (that normally you "ignore track filter") in the track gdb would allow you to do what you want to do. this would involve some tinkering - probably both with the track gdb filter line and the .car file (I haven't tried it or fully thought it through - I would imagine you could put stuff in the track filter that would include all the cars you wanted in and leave off the ones you didn't - maybe a list (assuming it allows that) - so that whatever track you want only LMP says - LMP1, LMP2 if that works that would be the easiest way - I would think it would work good luck |

Hi, if you want to exclude one or more classes from a race just don't include the track in the "Classes" line of the .car file of every car of that class.
For example if you want only LMPs on Barcelona: Classes="LMP, monza, anderstorp, barcelona, lemans, ..." To exclude GT from barcelona: Classes="GT, monza, anderstorp, lemans, ..." This for all the GT cars, just erase barcelona. I hope I esplicated well. |

You can have more cars after the second round, but they have to be in your folder from the beginning. I've noticed that you cannot add a car in the middle of a championship.

Ok I just ran my first test so I thought I would mention the outcome for others in case they are wondering.
I set the championship limit to 27 opponents. The 1st track has a Max Vehicles=41. So what did I end up with? 27 opponents. I then changed the opponents to 55 in the championship and when I went to the first race I now had 41. So I guess the answer to my question is start off the championship limit with the max cars you will use in the season and then insert the Max Vehicles=number for each track that allows less vehicles. Next up I wil try out the eliminating different classes for a race. |

Saihpitu, how'd that go. It sounds like Totenkopf's instructions are the way to control classes in a race - did it work for you?

oops forgot the other question - can you set how many cars to participate in a race from each class? Say I want to have 32 cars, 8 from each class.

I tried Totenkopf's suggestion with no change in the classes of cars racing at an event. But I have to qualify that with a disclaimer that I set the race lengths to very short distances (4 minutes or 4 laps) just to speed up the process. I think this might have changed the outcome as I noticed after a race no points were awarded and no weight penalties were added.
Their must be some minimum time or distance required, when I get some time I'll try 30 minute races and see if that makes a difference.

I learned that 20% race-length is the minimum for getting championship-points within my GP79 Season.
Tried a lot but cannot sort it out. Only way is to delete the amount of laps in the gdb-file of your championship. Then you only have the time-limit and get points even for "very short races". Would be thankful if someone shows us a better way !! Last edited by andreas pangl; 20 March 09 at 07:27. |

When I look at the Gillette Vertigo car file and see line:
classes="Full, 2003, Vertigo, NG3_2003, 24H_2003, CC001, SPA_2003" Can someone define the parameters? Following up from below if I want to have this car in a G3 class race at Monza, for example, I would change that line to read: classes="G3, Monza" And do that for all the other G3 cars. It seems to me the simplest thing to do is create a separate Team folder with the car files you want in a race modified as above and have the other cars in the file excluded; then swap the whole team folder. Am I on the right track? pun intended ![]() ps - original file backed up, no problemo! |
