Default GTR2 DirectX Issue

Can anyone tell me if a patch has been made to fix the problem with GTR2 not loading if Directx9 or Automatic is selected as shader. It worked fine on DirectX9 for a few days until it decided it wouldn't start, so I reinstalled it and it happened again after a few hours, so I have to use DirectX8, lame. I have a 6600GT so it's not a graphics card/directx compatability issue.

No I haven't, I'll try that and see if it helps. Funny thing is though, lastnight I configured for DX9 just to see if it would run and it did. Tried again today and it won't run on DX9, it's quite erratic. My graphics drivers are 8 months old so maybe latest drivers could help too.

Any luck running the game properly yet?

If not, then post your computer specs: cpu, memory, gfx card, sound card, hard drive, and anything else that you usually have plugged into it. It might help

I don't think it's a directX problem, for me it seems to be the CD checking that causes the problem.
If I use the no-cd I never have any problems but to go online I have to use the CD.

It seems to be working fine with DX9 now, though it will probably play up again eventually since I hadn't made any changes since last time it played up. I updated my graphics drivers anyway, but I'm not to sure about the Microsoft verification thing for DX updates . As for my system specs:
CPU - Athlon 2600 (socket A)
Memory - 1GB DDR
Graphics - Nvidia 6600GT 256MB
Windows XP Pro SP1

I read somewhere that there is an apparently known issue between some older cards and DX9 causing problems with this game, so that's why I asked if there's a patch, though I guess it could be some other issue.
