I'm getting ready to build a new PC after over 4 years, and I'd like to see what kind of frame rates people are getting on their systems:
My proposed system is: E6300 processor (possibly overclock...) Gigabyet GA-P965 S3 motherboard 2 gigs of OCZ Gold ram eVGA 7900GT I'm hoping I can turn everything up to high with at least 20 cars and run 60+ frames at 1280x720 on my projector. |

ASUS A8N-E nForce 4 chipset
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ (OC @ 2.5GHz) 2GB Corsair RAM (OC @ 415MHz) ATI Radeon X1900XT 512MB (620/720MHz) Enermax 500W PSU Audigy 2 ZS-Platinum 2x old Samsung IDE HDD's Res: 1280x960x32@60Hz Renderer: DX9 FSAA: Level 2 (4x) In-game settings all Full/High except shadows which are Medium; a big boost in FPS without losing much graphical quality. I'd say about 80% of the time I'm above 60 FPS. If not 60, it's usually around 40 FPS but that is when there's a lot of cars around. It can drop to the 30's down the pit straight when there's ~40 cars at the track. In the rain it's pretty much the same but night racing it can go crap. I tend to turn off the high res stuff when I do 24H races so I can keep my FPS high. GTR2 is more CPU based than GPU based, so, having a good CPU is the key to high FPS here, but, of course you do need a decent GPU. Looking at your proposed specs, you should have no probs running the game. |

specs in my sig, get 120fps most of the time.
have everything in the game maxed, and anti-aliasing on the first level. Run the game at 1920x1200 On a busy track like spa with rain and lots of cars it might fall to 60 occasionally. |

according to intel thermal analysis tool, which is much better and more consistent than any mobo as it reads direct from the cpu itself, high 40's idle and low 70's with both cores under 100% load - which never happens running real life apps...
most mobo's show 10-15°c cooler temps at the same time ![]() I'm going to get a better cooler very soon though.. this intel one sucks , but I've given up on big overclocks as its too much hassle and noise, and with conroe we've finally got to the point where cpu's are fast enough not to need it

@ GamePC.com they claim to have oc'd E6600 to 3,0 GHz w/"using stock air-cooling methods" (I quess not the stock Intel cooler though...) and 100% stability, very interesting

I'm new to NoGrip, nice to meet you.
I just built a new machine to run GTR2, here's the specs: Intel CoreDuo E6700, overclocked to 2.93gHz Intel 975XBX2KR motherboard HIS Radeon XT1950 IceQ Turbo, 512MB 2GB Corsair OC memory Run GTR2 at 1280x1024, 32bit, 72Hz refresh DX9 rendering 2x Antialiasing Anisotropic filtering set to auto (app preference) Omega 3.8.291 Radeon drivers DirectX image quality set to maximum All details in GTR2 set to maximum, high fidelity replays 24-car field This setup works great with GTR2, frame rates normally range from 65-140, with minor lag with some of the converted tracks. Nordschleife is the worst at 35-45fps in-car. |

You guys all have great rigs running 40+ frames but why dont u guys run with larger grids of cars like 30+ cars as the framerates for most should be above 25 which is like a perfect frame rate on the biggest tracks with no lag at all, trust me my friend runs 38 cars or 32 all the time and gets a minimum of 20 frames which is not really noticable lag as it only happens for a split second. He runs on max settings except shadows on medium with 1.5 gig ram 2core intell and Gforce 6800.

my specs r Core 2 E6600 CPU (running stock) Gigabyte DQ6 Motherboard 2Gigs Corsair Pro Rams 750Watt PSU 7950 GX2 GPU Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Soundcard 74 Gig Digital Western Raptor HDD (i think that's what it's called) and the only prob i have is with fps r the add on tracks like Adelaide, i have all settings maxed out, like AAx4 n AFx16 IQ High Quality, Supersampling on when i play the normal tracks, all is good, really smooth gameplay, but when i play most add on tracks the AA doesn't seem 2 work at all, forced in game or by Nvidia's control panel, and it's kinda jumpy or glitchy like i don't have enough ram.............. maybe i need 2 turn my shadows down but i don't think that's the prob cause my friends set up is smooth with everything maxed out, and his AA works on add on tracks (think it's cause he has two X1950 crossfired) but still my set up is almost the same as his except for mobo n 2 vid cards, so i don't understand y AA won't work on Add on tracks or y it's not smooth on add on tracks but i'm still in my learning stages on PC's, so i'll hopefully figure it out soon |

Hello friends and entusiasts of GTR2, i m so
Unfortunately my system for now its only: Laptop Samsung R50 Pentium M 1,73Mhz,1Gb DDR2, Hitachi 60Gb 5400 rpm and the worst….. ATI X300 128mb, but a little overclocked with omega drivers i m running at 1280x800x32, Dx8, AAx2, all settings medium/high, shadows low, grid with 25 cars I can only have 30/40fps, in dry, it depends a lot of kind of track and sections sometimes like Laguna or Watkins i make 50fps. At 1024x768 the frames go to 50/60fps. At night and wet theres a huge drop of frames, almost impossible to run. But remember guys that the human eye can only see at a maximum of 25fps, more than that, theres no perception. So please don t put me so bad   Last edited by simao_ricardo; 5 January 07 at 14:37. |
