I'm sure that it will run on Vista.

Your problem could be anyone of a multitude of other issues.

Are you running a no cd patch?

Are you using a Creative sound card?
(Vista disables direct sound acceleration.)

Do you have any game images in ISO on your drive?

You see, Vista's main purpose is to constantly scan your computer for hardware/software it doesn't like and disable it or, in some cases, uninstall it.

I guess you forgot to read the fine print in the license... see other threads.

I think this only happens when you apply the 1.1 patch. Anybody figured out a workaround yet?????

Vista is having serious problem with all games. There is so many bugs they have to fix. Problems are mostly media related but I see one is downloading updates and games. When installing Vista has this new security and it seems to create a problem to with downloading game stuff. The game becomes uncompatible with Vista. MS may put the blame on the gaming industry and MS might not fix this security problem. Lets hope that is not the case.

Same problem - running GTR2 without patch how strange, I have thought of copying my XP GTR2 folder withthe 1.1 patch across to Vista and see what happens

I tried that, same issue

I've emailed Atari (publishers as 10T don't do support) I'm still awaiting a reply.

Nah its not microsoft its purley GTR2. The games fine until you apply the patch. Funny I thought a patch was supposed to fix stuff not break it.

The fact the game works before the patch means the OS/Drivers and everything else are all fine. Something in the update must have changed how the game detects graphics settings.

I have it working with 1.1 patch & no-cd, but I have noticed that now after a reboot it looses the gfx settings and fails to start.. I have to run GTR2Config.exe to reset them and then it works again

it might be related to Windows Defender - I had no such problems last week when I first tested it, and Defender was disabled then

The same thing happens to me, but I'm still using XP. Doesn't happen all the time though, just every once in awhile.

I recently bought a new Dell XPS 410 with the following specs-

Intel E6700 (2.66ghz) Core 2 Duo
2GB RAM
nVidia 7900GS
20" widescreen Dell
Windows XP Media Center

GTR runs flawless with all settings on high/full. Before I purchased it I asked about GTR2 & Vista and was told it would run fine by people who were already running it on Vista. I have a free upgrade to Vista but haven't installed it and maybe I won't just yet....time will tell. My question is why now is everyone having all these problems running a game like GTR2 on a Vista OS when I was told that it runs perfectly fine with Vista? Thanks, Clem

Vista is a long way from being installed to my computer... I see no need for anyone to upgrade to vista for the time being. Its a resource hog and there is nothing out right now to take advantage of anything it has to offer.
