First off, thanks for your support and feedback. I'm glad you like the idea and plan to use the mod when it's finished :)
In response to your points, there are some issues which need to be discussed.
1: Including All Modifications
This goalpost might be a bit too high to reach. Including as much stuff as possible is a priority, but the resulting file size is an important factor (Just read the GTR2CBP Development Blog
to see how big it is already!). Creating a package which is too big will deter users from downloading - and therefore still make this a "niche" mod. There should be an element of selection which determines what full mod-packs get integrated into the game.
I'm hoping to add 10-20 new, updated and tested tracks to the package. Again, there should be a forum and poll on which make it into the pack.
Again, theres a number in my head for how many can be reasonably added - probably about 30-50 new cars.
4: Sounds, Utilitys And Visual Modifications
Definatley :) I'm hoping to make the ergonomic feel of GTR2 a little bit better, and GTR2CBP plans to do some very interesting things in this respect. Stay tuned.
Hopefully as you say many content authors will be interested in becoming part of the GTR2CBP project and having their content shipped with what will appear to be "a full new game" to most end-users. I think there must be some appeal as well that they will see their name within GTR2's credit sequences etc.
A dedicated website is already available (and being updated with a dev. blog && showcase area) at: http://gtr2.dominionstudios.net
And yes, I do hope that people will find this compilation pack useful, and that it will stomp out consistency problems and make playing online easier, and more fun. Also, I hope that new players will enjoy a whole new wealth of material from community authors which they thought was not available : and prolong the shelf life of GTR2 well into the future.
Thanks again daviking : I may PM you for some links ;)
