There seem to be 2 models of the BMW, although I've seen hints that there are 3 or more. Have seen what I thought were 3.0 liter, 3.2 liter and 3.5 liter versions referenced when various painters 'do their thing'.
Can someone enlighten me? There is a second confusing aspect that also needs addressing. There is a model called the 'Schnitzer'. Is that the body style with air scoops on the fenders? Would appreciate feedback on the two subjects. Why? I would like to keep the sim 'real', as there have been two new tachs just released and there is nary a hint of which cars each of the two different tachs go into; possibly due to my confusion with the cars. How can I determine which cars receive which new tachs? I opened a .cars file with notepad, and there wasn't any hint of the model noted there. Going to the garage (that turntable showing the specs of the car) to choose a car to drive only shows two BMW's available; one with more horsepowere than the other, but both showing the same top speed. Thanks for whatever anybody can offer. |

There are two BMWs available - the 3.2 litre Alpina and the 3.5 litre Schnitzer. The car was generally known as a BMW 3.0 CSL - perhaps where you have got the reference to 3.0 litres, but the racing versions had bigger engines - just like the racing version of the Capri RS3100 had a bigger engine than 3.1 litres.
The speed quoted in the game is the speed with the default gearing, rather than the true maximum speed of the car with ideal gearing and a long enough road. Simbin published a guide to the cars in GTL in three parts in pdf format at the GTL website. Its very usefull ![]() http://www.gt-legends.com/support_en.php scroll down a bit. |

Okay, that solves half my problem. Thank you. BTW, I've had that pdf 3-part file on my computer for a long while, at least a year....but thanks for your trouble in digging it out and supplying the link.
For anyone not yet aware, here are the two links I meant to refernce in my 1st post... http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=2835 http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=2834 |
