Hi,
I was wondering what videocards you guys are using, as I'm in need for an upgrade. I'm using an Athlon 64 3000+ system with 1GB of ram and a 128MB Geforce 4 Ti4200 to play GT-Legends. I get around 40-50fps with all eyecandy off @1024x768. Problem is a night race at hockenheim short in one of the challenges were I'm under 20fps consistantly. I'm looking for an AGP videocard that will boost my framerate enough to up the framerate in GTL, and maybe turn on some eyecandy. €140,- is about all I'm willing to spend on my PC, which leaves me with the nVidia based 7600GT/7600GT or an ATI X850XT/X1650 PRO (or something secondhand). Does GTL prefer nVidia or ATI cards as some games do? Anyone of you have a simular PC and run one of these cards? TIA, Tminus3, aka Marc |

Hi,
I have a AMD64 3200 (chipset 939) on a ASRock motherboard with 1,5 Gb RAM and AGP graphics bus. I have an ATi All-in-Wonder X800XT 256Mb and play GTLegends and GTR2 at 1280*1024 32 bit with almost all graphics settings on high. This video card is really very good and produces a high quality image, much better than my previous GeForce 6800LE 128Mb (which I now use at work). From my experience, ATi cards produce better quality image than nVidia ones. You should be able to get a X800XT/X850XT for around 150$. Good luck. Cheers, ZeZeZoom |

go for the X1650pro mate, i've both a X1650pro (sapphire) and an X800XTPE(powercolor) and i'd say they were about the same in term's of performance (X800 is slightly better looking at the figure's but both give 60+ fps in cockpit view), only the X1650 has shader level 3 should you wish to try newer game's that are on the horizon.... pretty cheap as well, i payed £90 online for the X1650pro from PCWorld.

I have an older PC (XP2500+) which runs a X800GTO and a newer PC (64-3500+) which runs a 7600GT.
The 7600GT is definitely faster than my X800GTO and doesn't suffer from first lap stutters, but the image quality of ATI cards is better. While the 7600GT is a good card, like earlier posters I think I'd be tempted to go for the ATI card for GTL. |

Thanks for the replies guys, I've decided to upgrade the entire system rather then spending money on an AGP-card. My S754 mainboard didn't offer much in the way of upgrades anyway.
For €300,- I've got an oddbal ASrock mainboard that allows me to run my 1GB of DDR400 ram, a dual core Pentium D 915 and a 512MB X1950 Pro. The X1650XT was €60,- less, but I think the X1950 Pro will last a little longer. The mainboard also supports DDRII667 and all Intel S775 CPU's up to the quad core Kentsfield processors, so it will allow me some upgrades in the future. |

The X1950 Pro seems like a great value card. I must admit I'm tempted to get one just to improve the image quality but I'm trying to hold out a bit longer as my 7600GT is only about 9 months old.
