New computer - strange GTR things?

Just installed gtr2 onto my new system and moved all the track's i downloaded onto my old pc into the game. Before i copied them i played the game, did a 61 car race at spa which was great... I then installed all my addon tracks and now the game won't let me race more than 29 cars on ANY track, even one's with a high capacity like spa, the number of oppenents turns red over 29. Why is this? My old system only allowed me to race that many but i know that the new one is capable of more, and DID run more until i copied those tracks. HELP!

Maybe you set a different mod if you have any, or selected single makes of a car. It can't be because of the new PC, I'm sure.

BTW How are the new specs, and how much money did you pay for it?

I don't know about this, but try the process of elimination. Remove any add on tracks to a "new" folder on your desk. Then DELETE the "hat-dedicated" folder in locations. Now try the stock tracks....if it works then move the mods into the folders but NOT the hat folder. Plus I think lowndes888 may have a point about the car selection...seems i've read that before, certain tracks can only do so many cars based on the series selected. Good Luck.

BTW the hat folder will re-build itself as you load games, but to be safe make a copy!

Ok thanks guys may just download all the tracks fresh again as it seem's ok when i do it that way. Check car selection and its definately not that. A bigger problem is my driving school doesn't work now? Any advice on that as i have progressed quite a long way thru the game and don't want to start over.
New specs are: Intel Core 2 Duo e6600, Asus P5W DH Deluxe mobo, 2gb crucial ballistix 800mhz ram, ati x1950xt 256mb graphics card. Run's game very sweetly and i haven't overclocked yet.

Thanks it's cost me enough! Just tried creating a new user profile and doing driving school instead of using one i moved from my old computer and it's the same, no theory page's appear etc and none of the test's are there... don't tell me i'm going to have to install AGAIN! 3 time's today already.

Sorted out the driving school problem: NOTE THIS IF YOU ARE RUNNING ON VISTA and have this problem. Click on the windows button, then all programs, find GTR2 and right click. Select properties, compatibilty, and check the run as administrator box. Once this is done the driving seems to be fine for me! Relief!

Did you use windows file transfer to get the whole gtr2 folder to your pc?
I would think your player file would be recognized by the game....remind me not to move my game to a new pc! Sorry I am at work and don't have a copy of the game to look at to help de-bug what you need to copy....let us know what you figure out.

Just wondering if our mobo is fully supported and loading everything okay, sounds like you happy

So you are happy with Vista ?
What sort of utilities programs sims did you have bugs with, anything major

On XP a copy of GTR2 will run from anywhere on a fresh hardrive, why would Vista ( once you gained admin rights) .........be any different

as i understand it the reason why it turns red is that there is not enough cars selected, and the game will have to dublicate cars to reach that number.

they should still be in the race, but with some cars twice

An example: GTR2 has only two Lotus Elise cars in the game. the #116 and the #118. If you choose to run only Lotus Elise cars in a race, if you choose over two opponents the game will show red. If I were to choose, say 10 opponents and am only running Lotus Elise's, the race will be populated with about 6 of the #118 and 4 of the #116.

Phil, i made a fresh install of gtr on my new pc then copied the player files across via usb datastick, same with all the tracks. Thanks guys for clearing up the red number thing, for some reason i thought red meant you couldn't continue to the race...

Still one thing tho - why is it that on my standard fresh install if i run 03/04 all cars classes on spa i can pick 61 opponent's, the number stays white, but after i install addon tracks doing spa with same criteria the number turns RED after 29 opponents. Is it just a menu glitch in the game? Something obvoiusly changes when you add tracks?

Just installing the tracks off my memory stick again, this time one by one and checking in game, and either of the versions of Assen i've got throw up the red number problem, if i delete them all is fine again... Weird!

ok it is not the player file....something in the add on tracks is different...and I aint the expert on this...Props to Mad Hammish and Darock for explaining the "red" number thing so clearly.

Ok with the whole cars thing i've installed and tested all available tracks one by one and the red number issue occurs with - Both versions of Assen, Norisring and Oran Park. I also had a version of Klettwitz which did this. Anyone know how to fix them? Once any one of these tracks are installed the every other track in the game suffers from the glitch.
